Today we finally wrapped the photo session for Onmyoji's Crimson Yoto. The sartorial complexity of this outfit is extraordinary: from pattern-drafting to the tailored finish, the crimson-and-white color-blocked fabrics carry a gorgeous, fluid drape, while the gilded chest medallions and braided crimson rope sashes matched the original design to perfection. To embody her imposing combat aura, the makeup artist crafted porcelain pale skin accented with bold scarlet eyeshadow; slipping on the white-to-crimson ombré horns immediately locked me into the character's headspace. The monumental crimson odachi in hand is the beating soul of this entire shoot—with its sheer blade length and hefty weight, keeping dynamic slash postures clean required constant recalibration of my center of gravity and core tension, making posing intensely taxing on stamina.
The set was dressed with traditional Japanese folding screens, sakura paper lanterns, and oil-paper umbrellas, whose scarlet and ivory motifs resonated in perfect unison with the wardrobe. The photographer invested immense thought into lighting; when the side rim light sliced across the set, the specular luster illuminating hair strands and the polished blade was breathtaking. Although donning the entire rig was cumbersome—and the clear chunky-heeled sandals with ankle wraps made movement tricky—seeing that fierce, perilous ambiance materialize in camera made every challenge worthwhile. I adore the full-length wide shots, which cleanly showcase the asymmetrical hemline cuts and balanced physical proportions.
Speaking of this character, Onmyoji's aesthetic vision has always resonated deeply with my personal taste, and Crimson Yoto's archetype—aloof, gorgeous, yet lethal in battle—is endlessly compelling. To convey her razor-sharp intensity, I kept my micro-expressions restrained, channeling a subtle yet suffocating pressure through my eyes. Behind-the-scenes moments were genuinely delightful, with everyone brainstorming how to swing the blade with maximum cinematic flair. That said, when is the game going to roll out another SP Yoto Hime variant? The wait is agonizing, and my stamina and wallet are locked and loaded. Partnering with such a phenomenal crew across camera and makeup made the workflow seamless, and I am deeply grateful to them for transforming my vision into reality.
