Documenting our photoshoot record for the Identity V Photo-Embalmer (Joseph x Aesop) cosplay! When we decided to shoot this series, our primary goal was to craft a theatrical, dreamlike ambiance. Setting up the venue took extensive dedication: cascading pink sheer drapes, vintage carved picture frames, classical Roman pillars, and a floor strewn with multicolored roses all served to heighten the lavish, ethereal atmosphere.

For my Aesop Carl cosplay, the costume retained his signature grey-and-black houndstooth/plaid motifs and oversized necktie bow, accented with a blue-and-gold cross-star brooch on the chest. To introduce layered depth, the lower half was paired with striped tights and brown lace-up leather boots. This pairing beautifully elongated leg lines during seated poses, making it effortless to strike relaxed, languid postures. My partner, Yuci Dengdeng, cosplayed Joseph—wearing an ornate ruffled white shirt paired with flowing golden wavy curls, he radiated a natural, aristocratic classical aura beside me, with delicate red ribbons at the cuffs enriching fine detail.

Throughout the shoot, we explored numerous interactive poses. In one shot, Joseph is gently crowning me with a yellow rose circlet while I sit gracefully on the floor. This posture truly tested our mutual synchronization: I had to calibrate an upturned gaze while keeping facial micro-expressions relaxed, while he controlled the placement of the crown so it framed my face flatteringly. Because the styled wigs and headpieces carried notable weight, putting them on and adjusting them required immense patience.

For set dressing, we incorporated abundant blossoms into the foreground—including yellow roses and soft pink florals—which, combined with a diffusion filter lens, lent the frames a dreamy, hazy aesthetic. During the actual shoot, sitting on pink satin laid across the floor grew quite uncomfortable over extended takes, but seeing the resulting images made every hardship worthwhile. In terms of lighting, beyond our primary soft key lights, candle props arranged across wooden vanity boxes cast an intimate warm amber glow, bathing the entire scene in cozy tenderness.

This photoshoot was not only a faithful tribute to the characters, but also an exciting foray into classical romantic aesthetics. In makeup styling, we accentuated Aesop Carl's facial features—particularly the stitched detailing at the corners of his mouth—while Joseph's makeup favored sculpted aristocratic refinement with extra time devoted to defining his gaze. Post-production color grading also took immense care, focusing on perfecting the delicate pink luminosity and overall clarity while preserving dimensional depth so the foreground petals wouldn't overpower the characters. For fans who love Identity V and the Photo-Embalmer pairing, we hope this photo set delivers a refreshing visual narrative. It marks an exciting milestone in our cosplay creativity, and we will definitely keep exploring diverse visual styles in the future!
