The weather forecast originally mentioned afternoon showers, but unexpectedly, it turned out to be exceptionally sunny during the actual shoot, with the light refracting off the water surface into beautiful shimmering waves. This set of photos by the pool had actually been in preparation for a while. I specifically chose this water park setting to bring a refreshing sense of summer into the frames.
A lot of thought went into securing the wig. Since water-based actions were involved, it had to be not only windproof but also waterproof to prevent the styling from getting messy. This time, I used a combination of waterproof gel and styling spray, which kept the hair styling in perfect shape even under hot and humid outdoor conditions. In terms of costume color selection, I deliberately used a red, white, and green combination to create a striking contrast against the blue-green tone of the pool. Instead of leaning on complex decorations, I focused more on the semi-translucent texture revealed by the fabric once wet. During the shoot, the soaked short sleeves clinging to my body conversely cultivated a very natural, lazy state.
The entire shoot required constant coordination with the water, light, and wind. The photographer pre-selected a backlit position around 3:00 PM. To present the ideal effect of splashing water drops and wet clothing, I repeated the action of dipping into the water and coming back up more than a dozen times. Tourists nearby occasionally watched out of curiosity, but they were all very cooperative and didn't disrupt our rhythm. This set mainly relies on natural light with low-angle shots, integrating the white architecture backdrop and distant palm trees as much as possible to enhance the vacation vibe. Poses like sitting on the edge of a paddleboard or leaning sideways were mostly improvised; avoiding stiff poses made the expressions much more relaxed.
Shooting outdoors in the summer is indeed a test of physical stamina and energy, making sun protection and timely hydration the top priorities. Every smoothly delivered set of finished photos is the result of continuous teamwork and synergy, and I will try themes of more diverse styles in the future for our Anime-style photography creations.
