This set of photos was taken during a night location shoot to faithfully recreate the swimsuit look of Nemugaki Fubuki from Blue Archive. When I first got this costume design, my immediate impression was its intense summer freshness. The low-cut white one-piece swimsuit as the inner layer, layered with a blue-and-white sports jacket on the outside, combined with the double-bun wig and that highly recognizable transparent visor, creates rich visual depth in the overall styling. Preparing this outfit took quite a bit of time, especially with styling the wig. The buns needed a natural hair texture and full shape without being too stiff, while also accommodating the white gradient at the ends. To harmonize the wig with the swimsuit and jacket, I deliberately expanded the blush area in the makeup and chose red colored contact lenses to enhance the vitality of my gaze, while staying faithful to the character's canon traits. Shooting under outdoor lighting at night, camera flashes can easily cause skin glare, so the base makeup was intentionally kept matte.
This swimsuit cosplay exudes an effortless, casual ease among the many summer looks in Blue Archive. While shooting these photos outdoors, there was a gentle breeze; with every gust, the wisps of the wig and the jacket hem fluttered together, which, against the backdrop of outdoor tiles and lush greenery, created a genuine sense of daily life. Although the weather was somewhat muggy, doing an outdoor location shoot in this breezy summer outfit didn't feel too exhausting. Because it was a night location shoot, utilizing flash lighting was crucial. Frontal fill light improved the ambient outdoor dimness while preserving the dimensional layers of background plants without crushing the shadows too heavily. This outfit really tests body proportions; pairing a low-cut white top with a blue-and-white tracksuit visually flatters the body lines, while the breathable, open design maintains that distinct, breezy summer lightness.
When posing, I didn't force rigid combat stances, leaning instead toward capturing a relaxed, everyday mood—such as resting a hand on my cap or casually looking down and glancing up, perfectly matching her languid persona. During the shoot, light reflections on the transparent visor were slight, which is hard to completely avoid in casual photography. Slightly shifting angles to dodge direct glare yielded a clean, crisp texture. Furthermore, the red lanyard and small charm pendant were very delicately crafted; against the blue-and-white jacket and pure white top, having that touch of red as an accent color prevented the palette from looking plain while sharply focusing visual attention. The outdoor ground featured retro diamond-patterned green-bordered tiles, which, paired with thriving green plants, harmonized surprisingly well with the relaxed tone of the swimsuit. This is perhaps one of the great joys of cosplay location shoots: finding real-world environments that align seamlessly with character settings.
Finishing up the hair and makeup for this gear—especially styling the twin buns and securing the visor—took considerable effort. Because the visor and hair accessories had to stay secure against wind gusts and sharp head turns, the fastenings required meticulous handling. The final result met expectations, effectively conveying the clever, easygoing personality of swimsuit Nemugaki Fubuki in Blue Archive. From character selection and prop preparation to this greenery-surrounded outdoor venue, the whole journey delivered not just the joy of character recreation, but also the art of capturing the unique agility and vibrancy under the specific theme of a 'summer swimsuit' in anime-style photography.
