From the design drafts to the physical garment, it took nearly a month of back-and-forth to bring this custom sailor collar swimsuit to life. We chose a white, slightly stretchy fabric as the main body, and the pleats of the pleated skirt required high-temperature pressing to maintain this fluffy and layered visual effect. The red-and-white sailor collar at the neckline serves as the visual anchor of the entire outfit, and the bright yellow neckerchief went through several rounds of material selection before we finally settled on a silky, wrinkle-resistant texture with a premium feel, striving to create a clean, high-contrast color combination with the main body of the swimsuit under outdoor light.
The shooting day blessed us with beautiful, clear weather. Although the outdoor temperature in Dongguan was quite high, the translucent natural light by the pool was the perfect amplifier for this outfit. The shooting location was a resort-style swimming pool complete with tropical palm trees and thatched umbrellas, fitting the character's summer water park style as much as possible. The splashing water and shimmering waves you see in the final photos were actually snapped after repeatedly confirming the water temperature and positioning. That pose of standing on one leg with hands raised above my head required immense core control in the slippery, wavy pool water—a slight lapse would break the frame's balance. My photographer, Yongzhe, was incredibly delicate with the shutter timing, precisely freezing the water droplets as they crystallized in mid-air.
To perfectly capture the character's essence, the initial makeup and styling avoided overly heavy colors, focusing instead on brightening the eye contours and the clarity of the pupils. The long silver hair naturally carried highlights under the sun, and the curvature of the wig's bangs and side locks underwent multiple fine-tunings to match the character's refreshing yet slightly playful temperament from Charlotte as closely as possible. In the set of images shot on the wooden deck, the towering green plants and the sense of space extended by the water slides in the background instantly made the overall atmosphere feel cozy and relaxed. The design logic of this swimsuit is very clear: a vast expanse of pure white embellished with bright red and yellow accents, looking exceptionally clean and eye-catching against the backdrop of the blue sky, white clouds, and the pool's surface.
The shooting process lasted four to five hours, during which my clothes got wet and dried repeatedly. However, to keep my state in front of the lens sufficiently relaxed, we didn't pause frequently for makeup touch-ups. I tried my best to focus my attention on the genuine feeling of interacting with the environment—whether scooping up water or quietly sitting on the deck watching the clouds, I didn't try to force any poses. The final exported images preserved many natural shadows and light-dark transitions cast by the sunlight, giving the overall composition an extra touch of summer's authentic vividness. As a brand-new attempt at a specific uniform style, being able to present this rare summer location shoot look with a high level of completion and genuinely restore the character's essence in front of the camera makes me feel that all the early preparation was entirely worth it.
