Shooting this set of works for the character Tobiichi Origami required a lot of thought regarding makeup, styling, and set design. This pure white gown is actually much more complex than it looks, with layers of lightweight, ethereal tulle at the neckline and hem, complemented by gold metallic edges and a tiara embellishment. It attempts to retain the character's cool demeanor while adding a touch of gorgeous and dreamy atmosphere. The white wig was trimmed and thinned out to make the bangs fit my face shape better. The blue contact lenses serve as the visual centerpiece of the entire look, which, paired with the soft, pinkish-red eye makeup, aims to present a quality that is both exquisite and vivid.
The environment for this photoshoot was chosen to be a vintage European-style bedroom. The deep red carved bed and the vintage wooden nightstand provided an excellent color contrast for the framing. The warm lighting made the entire scene look as if it were gilded in a soft golden hue. Utilizing this backlighting and sidelighting allowed the white veil styling to exude an even more lightweight and elegant texture. When lying down on the soft fabrics and cushions, I needed to adjust my body angle so the skirt could spread out naturally, showcasing the rich layering of the gown.
Posing-wise, I mostly tried to showcase a relaxed or languid state of the character. A few scattered bubbles were added around my outstretched hand as embellishments, bringing a hint of magic or fantasy. For different poses, such as lying on my side or sitting on the edge of the bed, we needed to capture those fleeting moments of eye contact. The photographer was highly professional in channeling emotions and guiding the use of light, and the post-processing color grading also preserved the warm texture of the original shots without overly compressing the details.
Whether doing outdoor photography or studio shoots, collaborating with photographers of different styles always sparks new inspiration. This set of works focuses on trying to use a different scenic atmosphere to interpret the character's softer side, which is rarely seen. Looking at the final photos, I feel that the choices for makeup, styling, and set design were incredibly fitting. The shooting process went smoothly, and the overall atmosphere along with the presentation of the outfit's texture achieved our expected goals. It was a truly memorable shooting experience showcasing this Anime-style fashion.
