Shooting this set for La Pluma by the pool today truly brought out a love-hate relationship. I loved how flawlessly summer pairs with a pool, but absolutely hated that maddening monitor display. Before shooting, I calibrated colors meticulously against the character art—the original tones were supposed to be an intensely crisp, translucent ice blue. Yet the moment it was exported to the screen, it slapped on an ugly layer of grayish-yellow green. During color grading, I thought I had nailed it, only to look at the display and realize the shift was so extreme I barely recognized the set I had just constructed.

Let's talk about today's Summer outfit and overall styling first. La Pluma's character design embodies an innate, slightly languid vibrancy. To channel this breezy summer aesthetic, I deliberately selected a white halter bikini layered under a sheer, pastel blue long-sleeve sun shirt, paired with high-waisted distressed denim shorts below. This palette is refreshing without sacrificing visual dimension. Swimming goggles slung around the neck, colorful beaded necklaces, and a lanyard cardholder all served to make the character feel grounded and lively. The thigh garter ring was the crowning accent, adding a crisp, edgy touch. For the hair, short black locks were highlighted with strands of pale ash-gray and gathered into low twintails, while the tiny white horns on the crown were an indispensable, soul-defining prop. The yellow popsicle held in hand was a playful touch—cooling off the heat while serving as an interactive prop so poses wouldn't feel stiff.

You dial in that crisp blue-and-white tone based on the canonical palette, but why does it warp the moment it hits a mobile screen? To combat this discrepancy, I focused heavily on on-set lighting, ensuring illumination was diffuse and even to soften contrast while retaining highlight details. Post-processing was an exercise in subtraction—stripping out messy environmental color contamination to reinforce the cool blue-white purity. Despite the frustrating monitor color cast, the core foundation of this Poolside photoshoot held strong, preserving that signature summer translucency.
