[Meimi Haneoka Cosplay] Saint Tail Convention Photos from Magical Girl Only

The Cosplay convention photos from yesterday's Magical Girl Only event are out! I took some time over the weekend to sort through them and picked a few atmospheric ones to share.

This Saint Tail Meimi Haneoka cosplay look skews toward a Retro magician and stage performer overall, fitting quite seamlessly with the theme of the Magical Girl Only convention. The core texture of the costume shines through the wine-red velvet; under studio lighting, this fabric exhibits clear highlights and shadows, carrying an innate low-key elegance. Combined with the pale pink skirt hem splicing, the entire ensemble exudes sweet charm beneath its mysterious aura. The neckline features a small white lapel collar embellished with a bowtie adorned with a delicate little pendant.

The lower half consists of wine-red velvet tights paired with a short skirt. Velvet's unique matte texture looks high-end under light. Tights paired with pointed high heels visually elongate the leg lines, while matching elbow-length velvet gloves create strong visual coverage, perfectly matching a phantom thief's crisp yet elegant stage presence.

Trimming the wig was a step that demanded patience. This thicker short hair with blunt bangs needed to retain fluffiness to frame the face shape, and the bright orange-yellow color is very eye-catching. For makeup, light blue contacts were worn, while slightly elongated eyeliner echoed the orange-red lip glaze—cool-toned eyes paired with warm-toned hair created extremely high recognition on screen.

Props made up a huge portion of this look. The golden wand is crowned with a red sphere decoration, while the top hat isn't a standard black magic hat, but rather crafted from the same deep wine-red velvet fabric as the outfit, wrapped with pale pink ribbon and tied into a bow around the crown. The hat holds a crisp structure, adding to the character's mystery whether held in hand or cradled at the chest.

Yesterday's venue setup was extraordinarily dreamy; florists used abundant cream-white flowers to craft a retro flower wall. The scene featured dark carved metal railings, a white door, and a very vintage brass double-headed streetlight. In one scene where I stood by the streetlight, the prop master even suspended numerous white envelopes in mid-air, creating a layered floating sensation. Another set placed me beside retro patterned carpets and stacked vintage leather trunks; combined with floral elements, the entire picture was soft and delicate. Handwritten English poetry on the background wall added a literary touch.

Beyond standing poses, this convention photo set captured sitting shots and fleeting jumping moments. Phantom thief character poses carry theatrical flair—such as subtle wrist twists when holding the wand or locked gaze directions when bowing the head—requiring relaxed execution to avoid looking stiff. Being a Magical Girl Only event, the venue layout was exceptionally photogenic, with the retro European environment serving as a major bonus. The cold metal railings clashed with the warm wine-red velvet texture, while the off-white flower wall softened the intense colors, producing an ideal result.

Wearing heavy velvet outfits complete with gloves, tights, and a hat—even with a short skirt—gets quite stuffy after shooting indoors for several hours. However, seeing the final photos preserve velvet's signature sheen with accurate color reproduction makes all the effort feel completely worthwhile. This shoot avoided excessive retouching, focusing primarily on controlling skin texture and wine-red color accuracy to prevent velvet highlights from blowing out. I am deeply satisfied with the overall outcome—it was a fantastic shooting experience.
