Today, I shot this blue and gold color scheme palace style cosplay styling at the IDO convention. The layers of this outfit are extremely rich; the innermost layer is a white shirt with intricate ruffled collars and cuffs, paired on the outside with a dark blue leather corset vest. The waist is not only tied with a belt but also hangs a small prop sword. The heaviest part is this wide cloak, with the outer layer made of dark blue fabric printed with gold Baroque-style scrollwork, and the lining being a very eye-catching bright yellow. The overall drape is excellent, and putting it on makes one unconsciously straighten their back and shoulders. A lot of effort also went into styling the wig; the white double-buns on both sides needed pre-styling for volume and hold, the bangs were trimmed to a position that just frames the face, and paired with a small top hat decorated with sapphires and feathers, completing the head styling. In terms of makeup, eye makeup was heavily emphasized, wearing light blue contact lenses to echo the clothing tones, and the red smudging under the eyes added a doll-like feel, while heavier contouring and highlighting were applied to ensure facial features remained dimensional under the complex convention lighting. Special thanks to the photographer Qingfeng Photography Person V for directing the shoot. We intentionally looked for an area with a darker background and used top lighting to highlight the gold thread embroidery on the cloak and the texture of the leather vest. When shooting the action of spreading the cloak, one needed to master the arm's exertion point so that the cloak could present a perfect fan shape. Although walking around the convention for a day wearing a leather vest and over-the-knee boots is quite physically draining, once standing in front of the lens and whipping open the cloak, all fatigue would be covered up by that gorgeous atmosphere. The post-processing color grading also focused on retaining the strong contrast of blue and gold, making the overall atmosphere even cooler and more gorgeous. Every convention is a wonderful experience; being able to wear such exquisite clothing and perfectly record it is a great satisfaction. At the convention site, this gorgeous style of outfit actually tests mobility quite a bit, especially when going up and down stairs, constantly watching out so the cloak wouldn't be stepped on, and the anti-slip performance of the boots was also particularly important. However, the convention photos effect is truly surprising; many details, such as the metal buckles on the vest and the gold tassels on the edge of the cloak, are vividly displayed under the lens. Every time I do such a complex styling, it feels like a dual practice of physical strength and patience, but the moment I see the final photos, I feel everything is worth it. Afterward, careful wig grooming and costume maintenance are still required. The highlight of this styling lies in its strong color contrast and material collision. The toughness of the leather sharply contrasts with the soft ruffles of the shirt, while the golden cloak lining adds a touch of bright color. At the convention site, many people would stop to watch the details of this outfit, which also made me feel that the early preparation and the day's hard work did not go in vain. The photographer's lens captured the dynamic beauty of this outfit exceptionally well, especially the moment the cloak fluttered in the wind, truly breathing life into the flat design drawings. If I do such large-scale garments again in the future, I might need to plan rest times and routes in advance to ensure maintaining the best state in front of the lens. The overall effect this time was very ideal, and I've also accumulated more styling experience regarding large-scale props and complex garments.
