[Salter cosplay] FGO Christmas Dark Style Studio Photoshoot Sharing

This time, I completed a Christmas-themed studio photoshoot at Nanjing Xiaochun Photography Studio, with the theme closely centered around Salter from Fate/Grand Order. Although the original character setting carries a sense of coldness and majesty, wrapped in rich Christmas elements, it unexpectedly collided into a wonderful chemical reaction—just like an uninvited guest quietly slipping into someone's house from the fireplace chimney, bringing gifts but also carrying a hint of danger.

Let's talk about the styling first. To fit the Christmas theme while retaining the character's iconic traits, the costume chose a deep blue velvet material. The velvet surface reflected a very premium luster under the warm lights, paired with white fluff around the neckline and cuffs, maximizing both warmth and texture. The large red and green bowknot on the chest is the crowning touch, breaking the dullness brought by the dark color scheme and adding a touch of festive playfulness. Since Salter herself has short golden hair, styling the wig also took some effort; the bangs draped down just right to shape the face. Combined with the overall makeup, it looks clean and sharp. With a colder gaze, the unapproachable yet slightly tsundere feeling can be easily grasped.

In terms of props, of course, that iconic black greatsword cannot be missed. The striking red circular patterns on the blade are the coolest part in my opinion. The greatsword feels very substantial in hand, and placed together with a fluffy, soft Christmas outfit, the contrast is exceptionally strong—which is exactly what I like, the vibe of a dark Christmas Santa. During the shoot, the photographer Huan Mie Shen Shang was highly skilled at capturing this mixture of softness and hardness in expression, especially in those few shots of me sitting on the ground holding the sword. The action looked relaxed, but with the tip of the sword touching the ground, the aura immediately came out.

The Christmas atmosphere arranged in the studio this time was truly on point. In the background, the large "HAPPY CHRISTMAS" tapestry and Santa Claus patterns, combined with the festive red and green winter holiday outfit elements like the Scottish tartan blanket, along with the Christmas tree and branches packed with gold and red decorations standing nearby, made every spot a perfect foreground. Even on the white plush carpet on the floor, various small Santa Claus-shaped wine bottle ornaments, bear plushies wearing Christmas hats, and gift boxes wrapped in red and green wrapping paper were scattered around, rendering the cozy feel of the entire Christmas holiday to the fullest.

During the shoot, we also experimented with a special overhead angle—the one where I lay on the plush carpet with my legs extending upwards. Although the composition was highly imaginative, looking at the final photos made me feel it was exceptionally interesting, making the visual narrative of the entire photo set richer and more flexible. The final close-up shot holding the gift box emphasized the identity of a holiday blessing-giver; though the gaze seemingly carried not much emotion, it secretly hid the small thoughts of preparing a surprise.

Being able to cooperate with Nanjing Xiaochun Photography Studio this time, paired with the full-process guidance from photographer Huan Mie Shen Shang, made the entire shooting experience highly pleasant. The lighting was hit very softly, and the warm yellow tones illuminated the deep blue velvet dress and white fur trimming very warmly, letting one naturally relax in this environment to easily capture a great state. I am highly satisfied with this set of photos; it both preserves my understanding of the character and perfectly integrates the romantic aura of Christmas. As a holiday image sent out in advance, I hope this set of photos, combining dark style and festive joy, can bring everyone a different visual experience.
