Building the set for this Arknights Pozëmka cosplay shoot of "Beside the passing dream" was actually far more complex than the final photos appear. To recreate that illusory and serene moonlight atmosphere, we constructed traditional Japanese room flats indoors, laid out a wooden platform, and created a pool of real water beneath it. A pink lotus floated on the water surface, paired with dry-ice fog machines tucked in the corners to sculpt layered visual depth imbued with ethereal mist. To enhance realism, I chose to go barefoot, sitting along the edge of the wooden platform. With my feet dangling close to the water surface, the cool tactile touch made it much easier to immerse into character.

Regarding the costume, this attire felt exceptionally lightweight; the light blue gradient overskirt carries a subtle holographic laser sheen, easily catching shifting chiaroscuro during the shoot. The pink fox ears on the headpiece and dangling ornaments were also adjusted repeatedly to ensure optimal 3D dimension on camera. For makeup, we went with pinkish tones to echo the overall dreamlike palette. In pose design, I actively avoided stiff, rigid staging. From quietly sitting with chin resting in hands, to reclining against the wooden platform, or gently touching the water with fingertips, every pose sought organic interaction with the environment in this Ancient style cosplay.

The camera gear setup also gave us immense creative freedom during this Japanese-style photoshoot. The primary body was a SONY A7M5, paired with the FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II for standard framing. To capture tight close-ups and compressed medium shots, we deployed the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II. Since studio space was tight, the wide end of the FE 20-70mm F4 G helped draw in substantial scenic ambiance. Occasionally, to achieve a hazy, dreamy layered depth, the photographer switched to the FE 35mm F1.4 GM, using its wide aperture to softly blur foreground cherry blossom branches, giving the composition distinct three-dimensionality.

Lighting design was the true core of this shoot. We eschewed broad, high-key ambient illumination, relying instead on a giant glowing moon backdrop as our primary key light. The setting was dotted with multiple Japanese-style wooden-framed paper lanterns; their warm amber glow formed a striking warm-and-cool contrast against the cool-toned backdrop. When posing reclined, I had to calibrate my support points to ensure the garment folds draped naturally while catching localized contour rim lights.

Managing the smoke density proved to be quite a logistical test on-site. Too dense and it obscured vision; too sparse and it failed to evoke that dewy, misty water vapor effect. Each pose adjustment meant waiting for the fog to settle into the perfect density before pressing the shutter. Huge thanks to my partner for their teamwork, allowing this "Beside the passing dream" shoot to wrap smoothly and letting me experience Japanese aesthetics from diverse visual angles.
