[Hana Song cosplay] Overwatch D.Va Bunny Girl Official Photoshoot Appreciation

This official Bunny girl photoshoot of Hana Song, better known as D.Va from Overwatch, has finally been organized and released! Let's talk about some shooting nuances and the creative concepts behind this styling.

First, regarding wardrobe fabrics, we selected a glossy blue strapless tube top paired with black shorts. This reflective material is notoriously tricky to illuminate in a studio; if the light source is even slightly off-angle, massive blown-out highlights appear across the surface, obscuring the outfit's intricate tailoring details. We continually adjusted the angles of both overhead key lights and side fill lights during the session to give the fabric folds and stitching tangible, tactile dimension.

For hair, long purplish-pink wavy locks were used. To capture the full-bodied volume from the lore, I padded the inner layers of the wig with hair wefts and partitioned it with a curling iron before shooting. The pink cheek stripe paint was applied with water-soluble body pigment; although prone to rubbing off, its hue harmonized beautifully against the pink backdrop. The bunny ears were handcrafted with internal wire supports to prevent them from drooping over long hours, which, along with the headset featuring pink modules and antennae, anchored the visual weight of the head styling securely.

The white bunny emblem on the chest's pink bow was hand-painted in post-production, echoing the trims of the shorts and the color scheme of the prop gun. Speaking of props, the pink-and-black light gun carried substantial weight—holding it up for extended periods certainly made my arms ache, while the bunny charm dangling from the grip added lovely playful detail. For the white wrist cuffs, I intentionally selected structured cotton, where the metallic snap buttons provided a crisp mechanical flair.

Considering the vibrant pink background across the frame, selecting Black stockings and high heels was paramount. Between the two pose sets, the standing stance emphasized perky charm and full-body silhouette balance, while the seated pose on the stool is my personal favorite—largely because sitting elongated the leg contours significantly. The Black stockings caught ideal specular reflections under studio lamps, and paired with black patent leather high heels, they flattered leg shapes while visually balancing the glossy blue top against the darker lower half.

To prevent the snug tights from bunching into unnatural wrinkles around the knees, I selected a breathable, ultra-form-fitting pair. Makeup emphasized vibrant eye energy with a subtly winged cat-eye liner, keeping the mouth curved in an upbeat smirk befitting her persona. Post-processing unified the pink background's saturation, lightly fine-tuning skin brightness and leg shadow transitions to make the tights look exceptionally sheer and smooth. From crafting props to shooting and editing, this journey took considerable time, requiring frequent resets so the garment wouldn't lose its shape between poses—yet seeing the finished stills made every ounce of effort completely worthwhile.
