[Sangonomiya Kokomi Cosplay] Genshin Impact Hydro Bride: Dreamy Underwater Atmosphere Photoshoot Share

This set of Kokomi wedding dress photos shot back in March was finally released after a few months of settling. As a highly popular Hydro character in Genshin Impact, I have cosplayed Sangonomiya Kokomi many times, but this bride theme was still a completely fresh experience for me. How to display her unique combination of holy purity and gentle grace in an underwater environment was the main focus we deliberated on repeatedly before the shoot.

The photo studio setup this time was crafted with incredible detail. The simulated underwater environment featured not only rising bubbles, but also glowing jellyfish and swimming translucent little fish as embellishments. White gauze curtains, dry tree branches, and cold blue-white studio lights fit the pure yet slightly mysterious bridal theme perfectly. During the shoot, I needed to coordinate poses with various props—such as holding a glowing pink heart, or an unfolded piece of paper and a key—keeping movements small and controlled to maintain a sense of underwater lightness and weightlessness, which required high physical control.

The real challenge with this styling was balancing the makeup and hair. The wig features light pink long straight hair with eye-catching ring buns on both sides, styled with purple and blue ribbons. To be honest, this wig was quite difficult to manage; keeping the hair smooth and voluminous gave me a slight headache during the shoot. As I mentioned in my original post, the wig didn't complement my face shape perfectly, leaving a tiny bit of regret. However, the stylist was amazing: the eye makeup paired light blue-gray contact lenses with a clear, luminous complexion, capturing the character's calm yet tender temperament wonderfully.

As for the attire, the light purple chiffon dress paired with a dark blue bow at the neckline serves as a highly recognizable feature. The off-the-shoulder cut and semi-transparent sleeves created gorgeous layers under light refraction during shooting. I specifically chose white block-heeled Mary Jane shoes paired with white stockings, keeping the color scheme neatly unified. The stockings wrapping around the legs, combined with the high heels, adjusted the body proportions just right.

My condition on the shooting day wasn't at its absolute peak, as limited movement range and holding expressions and posture tension in a chilly pool environment were quite challenging. However, seeing the final photos made all the hardship worthwhile. The photographer dedicated immense care to post-processing, preserving realistic bubbles and light rays while making the water reflections shimmer, giving the whole picture spatial depth along with a tranquil beauty.

For cosplay photoshoots featuring such strong ambient atmospheres, attention to detail is paramount. From the placement of props and the drape of gauze to the color temperature and brightness of the glowing jellyfish, every element worked to serve the overall mood. Despite having plenty of shooting experience, every unique theme and scene presents new challenges. I think that's part of what makes cosplay so captivating—it's not merely reproducing a character, but crafting one's own interpretation based on their defining traits.

This Kokomi bride photoshoot explored angles and compositions I had never tried before, from standing and sitting poses to a final top-down shot lying on a reflective water-surface board. I adore imagery where the character blends seamlessly with environmental elements, making one feel truly immersed in a fantasy aquatic realm. Looking forward to creating even better works next time!
