Just got home after the convention ended and already received the photo returns from photographer Uncle Cat Meow—this efficiency is absolutely top-tier! Looking at this set of convention photos shot in backlighting at 5:30 PM this afternoon, the quality of light and shadow is way beyond expectations, completely up to the standard of an official photoshoot. Honestly, the crowd flow at Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo is always quite dense. Being able to dodge the messy crowds in such an environment and find a relatively quiet green belt relies heavily on the photographer's vision and snapshot capability. To coordinate with this Sotheby cosplay outfit, I dragged myself out of bed at 6:00 AM to do the styling. That pale golden spiral twin-tail wig takes quite a bit of care to manage, and ensuring a natural hair flow for the bangs and sideburns was key. Guangzhou's weather was also very cooperative today. Although there were some clouds in the sky around dusk, the dappled sunlight filtering through the treetops was exceptionally soft, hitting the white feathers of the hat and the pearl necklace just right, giving the originally cool-toned light olive-green dress a very warm, enveloped feel.

Regarding the details of this dress, if you look at the photos, you might notice that the super long, bright orange ribbon on the chest is quite a test for wind resistance. Just a slight breeze easily messes it up, so during the shoot, both of my hands were subconsciously adjusting its drape. Luckily, the form of the ribbon in the final photos turned out quite natural without looking too chaotic. Also, that wide-brimmed hat with red camellias and white feathers, though a bit eye-catching on the subway, truly acts as the soul of this look and elevates the overall temperament significantly. The vintage clock face and leather belt at the waist, along with the green velvet gloves and ruby bracelet on my wrists—these tiny props combined together construct a perfectly fitting fantasy vintage vibe.

During the shoot, we experimented with several different camera angles, including some half-body close-ups and a naturally relaxed sitting posture. The shots where I am sitting by the roadside or adjusting my necktie with my hands were actually captured in the intervals of adjusting light and shadow, which looks more agile and free from the stiffness of forced posing. The most stunning moment for the lighting was when the backlit atmosphere hit the edges of my hair, forming a fluffy golden rim outline, making the skin tone look exceptionally transparent, even without needing excessive post-processing filters.

I used to focus more on indoor studio lighting or reflector panels for official photoshoots, but this outdoor natural light combined with Uncle Cat's color style gave me a completely different photography experience. Although running around the convention all day was truly tiring, especially since this outfit with thick fabric and a hoop skirt isn't exactly lightweight to walk in, the moment I saw the final photos, all the fatigue melted away. Plus, many passing players at the scene recognized the character. Being able to bring a beloved character into a real-life convention through my own interpretation is inherently one of the most meaningful things about doing cosplay. That's all for this photo return share!
