This shoot features the Trails of Ink look for Yixuan from Zenless Zone Zero, and the overall design style is completely to my taste. The white hair combined with the black glossy patent leather cropped jacket looks visually very sharp and capable. When looking at the photos, the most intuitive feeling might be the texture of the clothes; this patent leather material reflects light intensely on camera. Coupled with the background wall stacked with dozens of vintage CRT televisions inside the Dimension Folding Box studio, it projects lights in RGB primary colors.
During the shoot, the master photographer was very meticulous about capturing light and shadow. In a studio where the ambient light itself is so colorful, it is easy to make the face look muddy or cause the patent leather to overexpose into a stark, dead white. However, Master Cheese Big Monster was truly professional with light control, utilizing under-lighting and ambient diffuse reflections to preserve the metallic-like texture of the clothing, while keeping the character's skin tone and red contact lenses looking very translucent.
This look has quite a lot of accessories, such as the small blue rose at the collar and the black-and-white wristguards, which, paired with the gold piping on the clothes, brings out a great sense of detail. Furthermore, this styling actually posed a huge challenge: the black stockings combined with black patent leather high heels required finding very suitable full-length poses during the shoot to accentuate the body proportions, rather than just standing or sitting stiffly. In the second image, with one hand resting on my knee and the other holding the gear, my mental state fits perfectly with Yixuan's slightly lazy yet commanding atmosphere.
While shooting on the sofa, we actually tried many compositions. The sofa itself is made of leather and quite slippery, and with the pointed high heels, maintaining an elegant sitting pose for the shoot really tested my core strength. However, the collision of these retro elements looks amazing on camera; the tinfoil background combined with the TV screens as light sources pushed that cyberpunk, wasteland sci-fi flavor to the max. From equipment preparation to on-site coordination and the final photo results, the overall texture of this Trails of Ink set truly carries the vibe of a cyborg system. Basically, aside from getting a bit tired from striking poses, the entire collaboration experience—from the makeup and styling to the photographer's performance—was incredibly smooth in this cosplay photography project.
