[Ulrich von Hutten cosplay] The Patent Leather War Banner of Iron Blood in Azur Lane

Long before deciding to shoot this set of Ulrich von Hutten cosplay, I had envisioned the composition in my mind many times—especially the chilly, aloof traits of the Iron Blood faction, which I really wanted to recreate through costume materials and poses.

This time, I chose a large area of black-and-red contrast patent leather outfit as the main theme. Although this reflective material looks fantastic in final photos, it is actually quite difficult to control under indoor lighting during convention photos. Patent leather is very stuffy, leaving me feeling breathless throughout the shoot, but the moment I put it on, that cool and sharp vibe naturally emerged. The high-heeled knee-high boots were also key to this look; adjusting to the heel height was tough, and standing for a long time strained my feet, but to elongate the leg lines and strengthen my standing aura, I had to tough it out.

The dynamic single-leg pose shown in Photo 2 actually took a lot of effort during the shoot. To maintain body balance while stretching out my limbs so the pose wouldn't look stiff or sluggish, I tried repeatedly. Fortunately, photographer Mr. Mubai was great at catching the timing, capturing the frame right at the moment of my fullest stretch. The huge banner was much heavier than I imagined; because the flagpole was long, balance became crucial when holding it as a prop. I had to prevent the flag from dragging on the ground while coordinating with my body's movements. The standing posture in Photo 1 was relatively steady, mainly intended to showcase the coat silhouette, the inner black halter-neck design, and the front view of the patent leather high-heeled boots.

Speaking of makeup and hair, the black-to-blue gradient wig is definitely one of the highlights of the whole look. The cool tones at the ends balanced the vibrant red parts, keeping the overall look from feeling visually overwhelming and aligning better with her cool, self-contained character setting. To match this sharp short haircut, the eye makeup featured extended eyeliner to sharpen my gaze. The background at the convention venue was quite cluttered with attendees coming and going, but luckily Mr. Mubai used a wide aperture to blur the background into color blocks, pulling all visual focus back onto me in these convention photos.

The process of shooting this set of anime-style photography was quite interesting. Although enduring the heat in patent leather, fatigue in high heels, and weight of the flagpole was tough, seeing the frozen moments made all the effort feel completely worthwhile. Because the character's setting inherently carries a strong sense of power, I didn't choose weak or overly cute poses, but tried using the flagpole to create tense geometric lines that interacted with my body angles. In the noisy convention environment, delivering Iron Blood's focused, restrained, yet explosive nature relied heavily on lighting coordination and precise shutter timing. The final results, with intense patent leather reflection, bright red-and-black contrast, and casual standing poses, achieved the exact visual impact I originally envisioned.
