[Zhongli Cosplay] Gathering Osmanthus Wine to Share with Old Friends: Lanterns and Order in Liyue Harbor

Polishing this Zhongli look took significant time, from wig sculpting to outfit details, especially the metallic shoulder armor and diamond-shaped neck ornaments. To recreate that heavy texture and metallic luster, we evaluated multiple materials. The selfie studio backdrop on shooting day carried rich Chinese traditional charm; the scroll reading "Mundane World" and celadon vases seamlessly elevated the Liyue atmosphere.

The floating golden constructs and geometric shapes in Photo 1 were added in post-production. Combined with warm yellow lighting and glowing particles, live filming relied entirely on prop-less acting, placing high demands on arm angles and facial composure. Photo 2 presented a serene still-life mood reading an ancient tome—the book was a hardcover prop with refined leaf textures and gold foil stamping. The high-angle close-up in Photo 5 tested makeup execution: golden contact lenses and eyeliner could not reflect under strong lights, so matte foundation was used to keep the character looking composed.

Costume-wise, pairing reddish-brown sleeves with black velvet limited range of motion. Shoulder silver armor pinched my arms when posing with a sword or holding gestures, requiring us to check blind spots before every shot. The blue-and-gold wrist straps on gloves were custom accessories that numbed my fingers after wearing them long, but maintaining it was essential for stellar results in this Zhongli cosplay.

Lighting relied on two warm constant lights. The main key light shone from the top-side, casting dimensional shadows on the face while lantern and scroll reflections filled dark shadows. Beyond VFX, post-grading standardized color temperature to envelop the scene in an evening lantern market warm tone. In every Ancient-style fantasy character attempt, I enjoy combining stillness and motion—calm while holding scrolls, composed and commanding while manipulating floating constructs.

Prop-wise, the casual seated posture in Photo 4 required fine adjustment to keep fabric folds neat. Bamboo leaves and wooden lattice grids echoed character aesthetics. Portraying characters with deep cultural roots requires more than physical resemblance—it demands conveying a sense of duty through eyes and posture, which shines in Genshin Impact character design.

The set went through two grading versions; the first was too cool for the "Mundane World" tone, so we regraded to separate warm gold and brownish tones.
