[Juno cosplay] A Lovely Clash Between Overwatch and Sanrio

Bringing this Sanrio collaboration design for Juno from Overwatch into reality involved far richer costume and prop details than I initially anticipated. To embody Juno's signature blend of futuristic sci-fi aesthetic and effervescent spunk, I put tremendous effort into the preparatory phase.

Starting with the wardrobe, the yellow-and-blue color-blocked suspender shorts over a bright yellow short-sleeved collared shirt established a bold, vibrant chromatic contrast. To honor her in-game styling, I added oversized white circular buttons along the suspender straps and stitched delicate white lace trim along the leg openings, balancing sporty athleticism with sweet cuteness. The legwear was a major focal point: white loose socks paired with crimson ribbon bows and red-and-white candy-striped wraps beautifully elongated and accentuated my leg lines. To tie the entire ensemble together, I laced up chunky pastel pink platform shoes, which added grounded weight when stepping across wooden ladder rungs and cobblestone pathways.

The headgear served as the undisputed soul of this cosplay. A fluffy white plush cat-ear cap adorned with an oversized red bow, combined with black-and-pink over-ear headphones, instantaneously fused Sanrio's quintessential kawaii aesthetics with mech-pilot sci-fi tropes. For makeup, I selected bright azure contact lenses to mirror her eye color, keeping the eye cosmetics clean, crisp, and translucent to emphasize an authentic anime-inspired charm.

We enjoyed gorgeous natural sunlight on shoot day, staging an outdoor cabin set featuring a red-and-white checkered roof. Photographer Kong Shan He Yu expertly framed each composition: whether perching on the eaves of the roof or steadying the pink-and-white toy blaster in an aiming stance, the daylight hitting the outfit produced brilliant frames. The white kitten plush prop featuring a red bow added wonderful interactive life to candid poses.

Transitioning to the indoor set, the atmosphere softened into pure, cozy warmth. Lounging on a floral chintz sofa encircled by massive plush strawberries and white cat plushes sporting blue overalls, the entire space radiated plush softness. Cradling the oversized kitten plush and posing playfully with smaller props allowed me to immerse myself completely in this delightful world. The outfit's dimensional layering was striking—especially the oversized white plush mitts and red-and-white striped gauntlet sleeves, which delivered bold visual pop during reaching gestures or firearm poses.

In terms of expression control, Juno is inherently vibrant, cheerful, and sunny, so I maintained lively eye contact and an upbeat smile before the lens. Handling the toy blaster called for playful, mischievous energy rather than aggressive tactical intensity. Although the dungarees look relaxed, tailored cuts across the waist and hips required an upright, engaged posture to prevent the silhouette from looking bulky. Because the sea of white plushies indoors tended to kick back specular bounce, the photographer lowered exposure values and carefully diffused indoor fills to yield soft, creamy textures while letting the tri-color pop of red, yellow, and blue shine. Thigh straps were readjusted repeatedly to present optimal bow angles to the camera. Despite the afternoon heat making the plush headpiece warm, we refreshed bangs and headwear before every take. The weighty pink platform shoes successfully balanced lower-body proportions for a cohesive look. Recreating this video game character infused with Sanrio flair in the physical world was an absolute joy, and I hope this collection radiates Juno's boundless vitality and charm.
