[Skadi the Corrupting Heart cosplay] Echoes of the Deep Sea, Come With Me

For this Skadi the Corrupting Heart look brought to Comicup 32, I did quite a lot of homework regarding outfit restoration and photography presentation.

As for the character Skadi the Corrupting Heart, her aura in Arknights lore has always possessed a cold yet oppressive core, so when crafting this cosplay, I particularly wanted to capture that pearl-of-the-deep-sea mystery. Clothing-wise, the deep red gown paired with a black witch hat and ice-blue gloves delivers stunning color harmony. I chose fabric with a subtle sheen so that under changing ambient light, it reflects with a biological luster; the red-and-black contrast not only hits with strong visual impact, but also aligns with her understated stubbornness in lore.

The huge black witch hat on top is one of the key visual anchors of this look. To keep it secure without slipping while walking around the convention, I added several hidden snaps and support strips inside. The long-handled prop in hand was very heavy, especially with its black metallic texture and hollowed-out design; holding it all day heavily tested my arm strength, but to recreate the character's heroic posture, these investments were essential.

Regarding makeup and styling, the key was combining White hair and red eyes with a cool, distant foundation. This visibly pale and matte base was designed to maximize restoring the character's unique complexion, while the red eyes appeared crystal-clear under cool camera tones, intensifying her staring gaze. I chose a high-density silver-white straight wig, a fiber texture that easily takes on a bluish hue under complex convention lights, blending naturally with the cold, hard environment of concrete pillars and overpasses—retaining 2D dreaminess without feeling awkwardly detached from real-world surroundings.

This set of convention photos was taken beneath an overpass outside the Comicup 32 venue. The light at the time wasn't particularly good—it was rather dim—but this muted cold light gave us ample creative space, allowing post-processing to build photo set consistency using blue-cyan ambient atmospheres. As a cosplayer who frequently portrays various operators, I carefully consider character dynamics before every convention. In these two photos, I intentionally selected different hand gestures: one reaching out with an open palm in invitation, and the other a gentle glance backward. The moments captured in these photos are precisely the state I wished to convey—standing distinct above millions, yet still harboring a lonely expectation.

Since I personally place great importance on prop texture, the white glowing pattern on the glove was given detailed handling, making it an eye-catching focal point under lighting even in static poses. In fact, when cosplaying characters with extensive full-body gear where every accessory links together, missing a single detail loses the essence. I feel relatively satisfied with the overall restoration this time, having successfully conveyed the character's cold detachment and oppressive presence.

On the day of the shoot, the wind was actually quite strong, nearly blowing the hat away several times. Fortunately, the photographer was very prompt in capturing moments without missing any brilliant seconds. Although Comicup 32 was packed with people, we did our best during framing and composition to avoid passersby, creating a vacant and desolate atmosphere that harmonizes nicely with the character's aura. Looking back, this Comicup 32 photo trip was truly worthwhile and gave me a deeper understanding of this character.
