[Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) cosplay] Drink Till Dawn: The Violet Avenger

Today's shooting theme was Jeanne d'Arc (Alter). Preparing for this look took quite a long time beforehand. The platinum-blonde straight hair needed meticulous brushing and styling, and the purple headpiece adorned with mystical patterns was the top priority, requiring precise angle adjustments to frame the facial contours perfectly. For makeup, the eyes were the main focus—I deliberately chose amber-toned contact lenses with deepened outer corners to capture that sharp, slightly arrogant gaze. The curse marks on the cheeks were carefully drawn with eyeliner, aiming for flawless detail.

The outfit was a deep purple satin strapless gown with black lace spliced across the neckline; the texture was exquisite, casting a gorgeous sheen under the lights. A deep purple bow tie accented with delicate black beading around the neck, paired with over-the-elbow purple gloves, elevated the overall look's completeness. To elongate the leg lines, I paired it with matching purple stockings and black high heels, which made walking around a real test of balance.

The shooting location was set in a vintage bar. The dark wooden counter, the liquor cabinets stocked with bottles behind, along with the antique wall clocks and vintage decor, added immense charm to the entire atmosphere. The bar lighting was dim and warm-toned, ideal for capturing themes with a hint of mystery and allure. The photographer skillfully commanded light and shadow, using side lighting from a vintage table lamp nearby to sharply define my facial contours and collarbone shadows.

During the shoot, we experimented with multiple poses. Sitting on the bar counter with legs crossed was the classic stance, beautifully accentuating the dress's slit and leg silhouette. Holding a red rose or a glass of red wine made the frames come alive. Although perching on the bar counter in high heels demanded serious core strength, seeing the final photos made every bit of effort worthwhile. Leaning casually against the counter with the glass brought close to my chest and giving a hazy yet provocative gaze instantly evoked that 'drink till dawn' mood.

We explored numerous variations in posing and lighting this time, particularly highlighting the stockings and the slit dress. By adjusting camera angles and flash power, we captured distinct gradients and layers of purple. Satin reflections are tricky to manage—the slightest overexposure washes out the fabric texture—so we constantly fine-tuned light placements throughout the session. Overall, this Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) shoot offered great creative leeway; the garment's quality and the venue's synergy were top-notch, thoroughly delivering that noble yet dangerous mature aura.
