Preparing for and executing this Arknights Zuo Le cosplay photoshoot provided a wealth of valuable experience. First, regarding the makeup and hair styling: the pointed elf ear prop for the left ear was custom-made in advance, with the edges carefully sealed to blend seamlessly with my skin tone. Paired with light blue-gray contact lenses, it brought a sharp, focused coldness into the camera's focus. The wig took a long time to trim, especially the wispy bangs across the forehead, which had to partially veil the gaze without obstructing the eyes, adding a lethal edge when paired with the props.

The costume's pairing of the black leather jacket and silver armor was exceptionally striking. The high-collared black leather jacket is very rigid with a side zipper design, making putting it on and taking it off quite strenuous. The row of silver diamond-shaped chains on the chest and the metal buckles on the belt required repeated adjustments to ensure every detail laid flat and neat. The massive silver spiked pauldron on the left shoulder is the soul of the entire set—its texture is top-notch, though its substantial weight rested heavily on my shoulder. To maintain an upright posture, I had to keep my back muscles engaged throughout the shoot, leaving my shoulder rather sore. The tattered red sash at the waist served as a visual highlight; to make it billow without snagging on the armor, we secured it in place with hidden pins.

Wielding the props was equally demanding: the two long-handled swords carried considerable weight, and combined with the bulky bracers, maintaining balance during poses relied heavily on core and back strength—any slack immediately resulted in a slouched posture. The set design that day was fantastic, featuring a black horse sculpture, pink-purple roses, and a vast blue starry backdrop. The cool-toned lighting hitting the glossy black leather jacket brought out rich layering across both the leather grain and metallic reflections. When changing camera positions in the studio, the armor pieces would clank together and risk scuffing the leather, requiring extreme care.

As a native Henan resident, pulling off such a hardcore armor role truly takes immense physical stamina. Although exhausting, standing before the lens fully geared made me feel completely possessed by the character. In post-production for this Armor photography project, we prioritized preserving that chilly, sharp atmosphere without flashy embellishments, focusing primarily on restoring the hardcore visual style of the black-and-silver colorway. Though demanding, the entire process was deeply rewarding. Sharing these authentic behind-the-scenes reflections, I hope to showcase the character's uniquely detached and aloof charm in this Arknights Starlit Wishes cosplay feature.
