Today at the convention, I cosplayed Arturia from Arknights. This outfit features remarkably rich layering. The white outer jacket is crafted from a subtly lustrous fabric that wrinkles rather easily, so I meticulously steamed it before heading out to ensure it caught the camera lights beautifully. The inner corset features symmetrical golden patterns over a black base; wearing it required careful alignment to keep the motifs centered, while ensuring the rear zipper glided smoothly. The lower half combines a sweeping black maxi skirt with translucent cyan streamers that drape gorgeously across the floor, and while the textile is exceptionally soft, moving around the convention floor was quite a chore as I had to constantly rearrange the train to avoid tripping. The fitted long white gloves hugged my arms perfectly, though wearing them for extended takes inevitably led to sweaty fingers, requiring quick breather breaks between shots.

For this shoot, the wig was meticulously trimmed and styled in advance. A blunt fringe paired with long, straight black hair can easily obscure the eyes and dampen facial expression if neglected, so I continually pinned and brushed it between takes. The crown of thorns was crafted from lightweight materials and reinforced with internal hair combs; though it looks razor-sharp, it sat quite securely on my head. For makeup, to harmonize with the character's persona, I deepened the eyeshadow layering and wore a vintage muted lip shade, aiming to evoke a dignified yet aloof distance. With such a dense, heavy wig, wearing it over time became quite sweltering—a familiar reality in cosplay.

The harp prop was a true showstopper. The frame alternates between black and white with gilded accents, and special materials were used during crafting to give the strings an authentic look. However, it is genuinely heavy; whether holding it with one hand or posing, my arm muscles were constantly flexed, leaving my arms aching after completing a full set. The sharp black spikes behind me also demanded utmost caution during posing—movements and turns had to remain measured to avoid poking myself or snagging the fabrics, which is why my postures in the photos appear slightly restrained.

When posing, I wanted to capture Arturia's poised, enigmatic grace as much as possible. The first shot is a restrained seated pose with hands folded and an unblinking gaze locked onto the lens, conveying a quiet, imposing presence. For the second shot, I wanted to introduce subtle motion, raising my right hand with my gaze trailing slightly upward along the fingers to bring vitality to the frame. The convention floor was rock-hard, leaving my legs numb after kneeling for just a short while; adjusting postures in such a voluminous skirt was tricky, but I gritted my teeth to maintain poise for the camera. The ambient venue lighting was complex, but the photographer found a window spot, using natural daylight paired with reflectors to craft this cool-toned, dimensional interplay of light and shadow.

Though the entire shoot was exhausting—from smoothing the dress to hauling heavy props—seeing the raw previews on the camera screen made every ounce of prep and perseverance worthwhile. Every recreation of a character is an intimate journey of deep understanding and immersion.
