[Alhaitham Cosplay] Charming Interpretation of Genshin Impact's Akademiya Scribe

This session features Alhaitham from Genshin Impact. The character's outfit details are incredibly rich: black leather textures accented with gold patterns, cyan lines, and vibrant emerald green gems create a look that combines a scholar's composure with a combatant's sharp agility, highlighting an Academic style outfit. The boots feature a custom-stitched upper and lower leg design equipped with multiple rigid metallic armor plates, and sole thickness was readjusted to better align with the character's proportions. Since his background is the Scribe of the Sumeru Akademiya, we spent considerable effort on props and set dressing to foster an atmosphere rich in academic rigor and vintage European elegance.

The wig used matte light silver-gray fibers, styled intentionally into a relaxed yet distinctly layered tousled look. Paired with the feather-shaped red and teal hair ornament on the side, it faithfully recreated his iconic silhouette. The tricky part with gray wigs is that the hair color can easily appear flat or dull; during styling, we incorporated warm-toned highlights so the strands revealed natural depth under studio lights. For makeup, focus was placed on sharp facial contouring and piercing gaze. To accentuate his calm intellect and keen insight, pale green contact lenses were chosen alongside clean, precise eyeliner and subtle shading, aiming to capture an intense focus dedicated to seeking truth.

The shoot execution ran smoothly, with lighting and camera angles effectively capturing the rich sheen of the costume fabrics. Props were carefully curated to fit his scholarly identity. Several heavy antique tomes—whether held or resting open—added natural volume to the composition. A red quill and ink bottle added a vibrant pop of color to the desk, mimicking the crafting of a rigorous academic report. Furthermore, taking a violin into hand—though he does not play in canon—complemented contemplative or listening poses, introducing an unexpected artistic depth. The chessboard and hourglass served as crowning touches, symbolizing intellect and time while adding intrigue to this Vintage portrait.

The set combined a wine lounge aesthetic with a classic European study space: deep crimson velvet drapes and a patterned solid wood sofa paired with vintage gramophones and wooden cabinets created a rich retro aura. To prevent background distraction during shooting, we utilized lighting control and focal depth to push the character to the visual forefront. Sitting on the sofa with legs crossed, holding a book, or leaning into a thoughtful pose, that effortless composure brought Alhaitham vividly to life. A vintage patterned carpet covered the floor, wrapping the entire composition in cozy warm tones for this Vintage portrait.

Through this shoot, I gained a deeper appreciation for the character's core essence. Alhaitham is not flashy or ostentatious; all his reasoning and judgments remain tucked behind a tranquil gaze. Thus, rather than forcing dramatic expressions, I relaxed my facial features and directed my gaze into the distance to build a distant yet firm aura. Leaning back against the sofa or resting a hand on my knee while looking off-camera perfectly captured his signature detached yet perceptive composure. Holding books or quills underscored hand positioning and structure, as subtle finger placement is essential for a scholar accustomed to constant reading and writing.

Regarding post-processing, adjustments focused on skin tones and light distribution. Controlling ambient color temperature kept the skin looking luminous and clean while retaining natural texture. Highlights on gold metal trim were enhanced to convey substantial metallic weight rather than flat glare. Color-calibrating the dark teal cape was equally essential to maintain deep cyan-blue richness without appearing muddy. I am thrilled with the final result; visual cohesion is exceptionally high, capturing character authenticity while infusing our personal aesthetic interpretation into this Alhaitham cosplay.

It was an incredibly immersive Alhaitham cosplay experience. Recreating the character's attire and temperament fully within such a meticulously crafted setting felt truly rewarding.
