An afternoon intertwined with gears and tea fragrance: Miss Marionette's tea party has officially commenced.

Preparing this shoot took quite a long time. To faithfully capture the character's precise, detached, yet distinctly elegant aura, we poured considerable effort into the costume, hair, and makeup. The ensemble features a black, white, and gold corset paired with multi-tiered lace-trimmed skirts, accented by a striking crimson ruby brooch that brings out rich layers. To match the overall mood, I chose a flaxen-blonde wavy wig dusted with golden shimmer, topped with a white ruffled headdress. The makeup emphasized contrasting reddish eyeshadow against vivid blue contact lenses, highlighting the immaculate, doll-like finish.

The location was set in a vintage library and leather sofa lounge. The deep-toned wooden bookshelves, warm yellow desk lamps, and dark red drapes effortlessly cultivated a classical aesthetic. The white and gold-trimmed teacup served as a key prop; throughout the shoot, I continually reminded myself to maintain graceful posture. Portraying a marionette quietly computing the world meant movements couldn't be overly broad, demanding an almost freeze-framed stillness.

The gear used for this shoot was a Canon EOS R5 Mark II paired with the RF 24-105mm F2.8 L IS USM. This lens performed exceptionally well in low-light indoor conditions; its constant F2.8 aperture ensured ample light intake while covering everything from medium close-ups to full-body frames. To accentuate the garment textiles and the texture of the White stockings, I specifically adjusted the lighting angles. Warm illumination grazing across the white stockings and skirt hem cleanly sculpted leg lines, establishing a crisp contrast against the dark background. The sleeves are dramatically exaggerated, with cascading ruffles that could easily look bulky on camera, so the photographer continuously guided my hand gestures to keep the sleeves flared open, showcasing their opulent volume. Seated on the dark brown leather sofa, cradling the teacup while locking eyes with the lens, there truly was a fleeting illusion of becoming the character herself. These photos document not just the styling, but an authentic immersion in that flow state.

Throughout the entire session, the most demanding aspect was maintaining posture—especially holding seated poses in heels and white tights, which required keeping leg muscles perpetually engaged. While the dark corset cinched the waistline beautifully, wearing it for hours was certainly a test of stamina. Fortunately, the resulting light, shadow, and scenery aligned flawlessly with our vision. Seeing the final selects on the monitor made every bit of that prior hard work completely worthwhile in this Cosplay photoshoot.
