[Ellen Joe cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Shark Girl Convention Photo

These convention cuts of Ellen Joe from Zenless Zone Zero are finally compiled! The styling embraces her iconic techwear maid ensemble. To channel the character's icy, standoffish demeanor, considerable care was poured into the styling. The wig was layered with precision, deliberately incorporating crimson highlights through the ends and sideburns to match the crimson contact lenses and under-eye red accents, instantly pulling out a sharp, predatory gaze. For headwear, a white ruffled lace headband studded with silver metallic spikes was anchored to the crown, complemented by a bespoke X-shaped metal hair clip resting against the cheek—maximizing character details.

The sartorial layers are rich and dense. The upper body features a black-and-white short-sleeved maid top bordered with white frills and red accents along the cuffs, while the torso and waist are wrapped in copious black leather harnesses and metallic buckles. Dressing in this ensemble required ample time to cinch the rear straps and buckles snugly without hindering kinetic mobility. Leather armbands on the biceps harmonize with the black-and-white paneled shorts and black mesh Stockings down below, establishing cohesive aesthetic balance. The black prop firearm carried substantial volume; propping it over the shoulder demanded fine-tuning my center of gravity to prevent swaying during poses. Shot within the convention hall, the circular overhead light arrays on the ceiling provided an industrial mood, which, when melted into a creamy bokeh via wide aperture, offered a cool-toned atmosphere tailored to the character.

While shooting, the photographer had me attempt a dynamic profile glance while lifting one leg. This stance heavily tested core balance: to preserve the silhouette of the skirt and leg lines, the knee had to be raised to an exacting angle while keeping the spine elongated. It took dozens of exposures to nail down the ideal shot, but seeing the finished frame made the effort completely worthwhile. Regarding the tail—while it stands as the signature trait of our Shark girl, this specific wardrobe iteration did not incorporate a sculpted tail prop. So when asked if someone could touch the tail, a flat-out rejection was naturally in order! That haughty, tsundere dynamic aligns effortlessly with her canon persona. The leather textiles and metal hardware threw crisp specular highlights under the lighting, while the color grading subdued ambient saturation to let the black and red core tones dominate. I am deeply pleased with these convention frames and look forward to packing more props for outdoor shoots next time to experiment with fresh lighting and framing.
