[Alice Cosplay] Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: Prairie Girl in the Breeze, Fleeting Moments

Recreating Alice from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for this photoshoot. This set of photos was shot in an open field overgrown with wild grass. To faithfully capture the character's signature look, I prepared the red short-sleeved top and a long pink chiffon dress. For the hairstyle, I chose a light-brown wig styled into a long braided ponytail, adorned with a red hair accessory, holding white lilies in hand. Together, these elements formed the core visuals of this Prairie girl aesthetic.

There was a gentle breeze on the day of the shoot, which we leveraged to our advantage. Since the dress was quite long and brushed the ground, moving created natural drag, which ironically created great snapshot opportunities. Working with the photographer, we tested various angles—like walking toward the back left and suddenly turning around so the skirt flared out into a sweeping curve, or standing still and letting the breeze blow to catch the moment hair and hem fluttered together.

Lighting was key to this shoot. The sun around 4 PM was at the perfect angle; the backlighting cast a golden halo around the hair. I personally adore warm tones, so post-processing followed that direction. I refined the clouds in the sky, added prominent sun flare effects, and overlaid falling petals. The daisies on the ground were real, serving as perfect foreground bokeh to enhance visual depth.

Because I prefer dynamic shots, I coordinated with the photographer beforehand to use a telephoto lens and a wide aperture for background blur while keeping focus sharp on my face. This highlighted the subject while preserving the environmental mood. In terms of expression, Alice embodies gentleness mixed with subtle melancholy and quiet resolve. So I mostly tilted my head slightly up, gazing into the distance with a relaxed, natural demeanor without forced expressions.

In post-processing, we adjusted light distribution so highlights weren't harsh while shadows preserved grass textures. The texture of the jacket and hair highlights were polished while maintaining realistic tactile depth. The shoot went smoothly, and the resulting Cosplay photoshoot turned out ideal. Though running repeatedly was tiring, seeing the final frames felt deeply rewarding. Combining static grace with the dynamic breeze was a fun challenge. When winds picked up, hair easily tangled, requiring constant combing, so waiting for the right moment was essential.

Styling beforehand took considerable time. The wig had to be sectioned, braided, and set with hairspray so it wouldn't become messy in the wind. Though the outfit looks lightweight, the red jacket has substantial fabric, making long exposure to the sun sweaty. Weeds in the field often snagged the dress lace, needing quick clearing between takes. These tedious steps all served to elevate the final result. Low-angle upward shots were sometimes used to elongate proportions and capture sky clouds and sun halos. Standing in the grassy meadow holding lilies as a Prairie girl felt truly magical. Thorough prep combined with the photographer's vision brings unexpected magic to wide-landscape shoots—aspects well worth planning ahead.
