This shoot for Elysia's Herrscher of Human look in Honkai Impact 3rd required tremendous dedication to wardrobe and makeup fidelity. The character concept in Honkai Impact 3rd is inherently romantic, so for the outdoor location, we selected a venue featuring classical pure-white architecture, utilizing the afternoon natural light to manifest a sacred, dreamlike ambiance in this Church cosplay.
For the wig, I selected a highly saturated pink base infused with lighter highlights and delicate glitter flecks; under side rim lighting, the strands gleamed with a shimmering radiance. The massive pink rose atop my head, paired with white feathers and a bridal veil, formed the visual centerpiece of the styling, requiring numerous bobby pins to secure in place. In terms of makeup, purple contact lenses paired with pink eyeshadow, accented with rhinestones and glitter pasted beneath the eyes to amplify the whimsical vibe, while keeping the lips soft. To accentuate grace, I wore white lace long gloves and a lace bow choker around my neck.
The intricate craftsmanship of the gown far exceeded my expectations. Multiple tiers of pink tulle were layered together, creating an airy, undulating wave when walking, though it carried significant physical weight once worn. The gown was embellished with three-dimensional pink roses and white butterflies, with details that truly withstand close inspection. To complement the gown, I prepared a bouquet of pink and white flowers—pairing roses with baby's breath to harmonize flawlessly with the outfit's palette in this Pink-themed cosplay.
During shooting, the photographer's compositional choices brought many delightful surprises. The first close-up utilized the bouquet as a foreground element, with side-backlighting falling gently across my face for natural transitions of light and shadow. The shot on the staircase was a seated pose; to display the cascading layers of the flared skirt, I kept my spine straight to allow the tulle gown to drape naturally. The low-angle shot required the photographer to lie flat on the steps to find the right perspective, using the architectural geometry to accentuate the sheer scale of the gown. The final shot leaned against the white balustrade, glancing back over my shoulder to establish the architectural backdrop while capturing the dynamic flutter of the tulle in the breeze.
Shooting such a voluminous gown outdoors is an immense test of stamina; walking up and down stairs required friends to help carry the train, and squinting against the harsh sun was a constant struggle. Yet seeing the seamless fusion of light, shadow, and garment details in the final pictures made every hardship worthwhile. For expression control, rather than forcing a smile, I adopted a serene, slightly detached demeanor, hoping to convey the character's signature tenderness imbued with divine grace. In post-processing, the overall color grading was slightly warmed, making the clean contrast between pink and white even crisper. For anyone who adores this styling, preserving such magnificence through live-action photography brings an incredible sense of fulfillment.
