From pre-production prep to the final deliverables, this Honkai Impact 3rd Huanxisha-themed Rita cosplay shoot underwent extensive fine-tuning across every detail. To harmonize with the Huanxisha concept, we built an indoor studio set featuring traditional Chinese wooden latticework and cherry blossom branches, complemented by a custom illuminated moon prop exceeding one meter in diameter. For the wardrobe, this altered white cheongsam retained the mandarin collar and traditional frog fasteners while incorporating daring contemporary cuts—the side cutouts and mini hemline infused a sleek modern edge. The lower styling paired opaque Black stockings with white platform high heels; against the dark backdrop, this stark black-and-white contrast dramatically accentuated leg contours for commanding visual impact. To echo the motif, metallic red and gold accents were added across the waist and bust, with crimson gossamer and tassels draped along the arms and a dark silk round fan held in hand, ensuring the palette remained richly dynamic.

For hair and makeup, the eye makeup embraced an expansive red-toned blend, which, paired with precision wig trimming and layered texturizing, sought to channel Rita's signature blend of poised elegance and subtle danger. I made numerous micro-adjustments along the wig edges so it would frame the facial contours organically before the camera. Lighting on set was equally deliberate: the key light targeted the face and garment front to highlight the golden embroidery and subtle jacquard patterns, while the background moon light was dimmed independently and paired with rim backlighting to evoke the serene ambiance of viewing blossoms under the moonlight.

Because the installation had a low vertical profile, we framed the sequence reclining diagonally across a chaise lounge draped with an off-white faux-fur throw. While appearing effortlessly languid, this pose placed rigorous demands on core and leg muscle control. To showcase the sweeping silhouette of the Black stockings and white heels, the angle of the crossed legs and the arch of the pointed toes were calibrated through multiple trials. The placement of the circular fan, the line of sight, and the slight tuck of the chin were all continually coordinated to ensure each capture caught the character's most magnetic, organic state.

Although the cherry blossoms in the studio were props, the flow and density of the branches directly governed compositional framing. We repositioned them several times according to camera angles, ensuring they framed the background with exquisite depth of field without obscuring facial features. Maintaining these holds throughout the entire shoot was undeniably taxing, but seeing the final frames seamlessly fuse classical Eastern aesthetics with the character's distinct aura made every effort thoroughly worthwhile. Exploring this styling served as another deeply enriching milestone in my creative journey.
