[Elysia Cosplay] Handcrafting the PV Wedding Dress Cosplay: Capturing Tender Moments at the Convention

During the first draft of this wedding dress, pattern making for the skirt hem ran into major issues. It was only after remeasuring the waistline that I corrected the direction of the front fabric drape. To stay faithful to the original canon design, I chose medium-weight satin as the primary fabric, which reliably maintains the hoop skirt's silhouette while offering an elegant sheen. The purple roses and butterfly ornaments were adhered by hand, creating a pleasant visual contrast between the structured fabric and the soft blossoms. For the veil, I opted for ultra-lightweight tulle that resists sagging and flutters naturally when walking.

For hair and makeup, to complement the pink wig, I selected a semi-matte base to let natural skin texture shine through. The eye makeup featured soft lilac-pink blending with subtle eyeliner, paired with light blue circle lenses to accentuate the character's airy, gentle presence. The elf ears were secured with adhesive for a long period and stayed firmly in place throughout the shoot.

A heavy downpour hit the expo hall in the afternoon, leaving insufficient light for outdoor photography, so we had to use reflections against the glass curtain wall to set our scenes. The venue was crowded and visually cluttered, but fortunately the photographers held steady compositions, utilizing shallow depth of field to isolate the subject. Photographer An Gaole caught a three-quarter glance back over my shoulder with fantastic veil motion. Photographer Ling Yuxi captured the frontal shot holding the bouquet, perfectly framing the waistline curves and fabric pleats. Photographer Long Guzhou focused on lower-body movement and the sweeping flare of the hem, bringing lively energy to the frame.

During shooting, embodying the character's demeanor meant constantly fine-tuning facial expressions and breathing. Despite the rainy weather, everyone worked together with seamless chemistry. The overall garment structure and accessories turned out better than anticipated; while many details can still be refined, that handmade nature is what makes it so special. Time at conventions is always fleeting, leaving several poses unexplored, yet bringing this long-prepared ensemble to the floor felt like a rewarding milestone. I'll continue retouching the remaining photos. I hope this passion endures, and I eagerly look forward to the next photoshoot opportunity.
