[Aemeath Cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Voyaging Star's Farewell

The studio's air conditioning was set very low, but moving around back and forth in the server room wearing the full Aemeath Cosplay gear still caused a thin layer of sweat to bead on my forehead. A lot of thought went into the early preparations for this Voyaging Star's Farewell themed cosplay photoshoot. To restore a visual effect that is both sci-fi and carries a touch of wasteland aesthetic, the photographer specially found a server room scene piled with vintage CRT monitors.

The wig was treated with a pink-gold gradient, which refracts obvious gloss under the neon lights. The branch-like accessory on top of the head is custom-made from acrylic and easily catches on the hair during shooting. The metal collar around the neck has substantial weight; once wearing the full gear, the oppressive feel of a futuristic warrior is instantly maximized. The lower body's white stockings and metal leg rings are the focus of this styling; when wearing them, the stockings need to be pulled very smooth, and the tightness of the leg rings must be adjusted so they can be secured without leaving obvious red marks. The black cross-shaped decoration on the chest and the bow at the waist also took quite a bit of effort when adjusting the tightness.

The first set of poses involved sitting on a chair holding a small prop, requiring a sense of detachment in the gaze. The photographer was constantly adjusting the lighting next to me; once the purple-blue neon tubes were turned on, the rim light on the edge of the figure immediately appeared. Halfway through, to capture a satisfactory close-up of the face, I tried several micro-expressions in front of the lens. Another set with a V-sign pose was meant to showcase a hint of lively contrast against the cold background; to freeze the most perfect angle, my arm had to be raised several times to achieve the ideal result. Because the background had many reflective screens, lighting needed to be handled very carefully to avoid revealing the setup, and the photographer cleverly utilized the light from the screens as a background light source to build a sense of layering.

During post-processing, we focused on strengthening the glitch art effect. The interlaced red, blue, and green double images, horizontal scanning lines, and pixel-shifted mosaics in the frame were all deliberately created digital breakdown sensations. Combined with the dark-toned server room background, the blue screen fluorescence intertwined with the purple-red ambient light, filling the entire set of photos with the texture of flowing data. The theme Voyaging Star's Farewell itself carries a romantic melancholy, so we used a large amount of cool tones in color, while retaining warmth in the facial processing. To embody the artistic conception regarding journeys and stars in that English line, the layer blending modes of the special effects were also adjusted across multiple versions.

Shooting this set of photos was quite a physical test, posing among computer cases in high heels—my legs were shaking by the time we wrapped up. Many fixing clips needed to be pinned to the inside of the wig, causing the scalp to go numb after wearing it for a long time. However, seeing the perfect fusion of light, shadow, and glitch effects in the final photos, showcasing the character's temperament shuttling between virtual and reality, made all the early hustle feel completely worth it. Bon voyage—not only a farewell for the character, but also a perfect closing period for this shooting experience.
