[Dolia cosplay] Honor of Kings Dolia - Illusionary Pearl Mermaid: A Dreamy Deep-Sea Rendezvous

Bringing this Dolia - Illusionary Pearl Mermaid styling to fruition took over half a month of intensive preparation. Dolia's character design naturally carries the buoyant grace and fluidity of the ocean, which made me prioritize fabrics with pearlescent luster and subtle gradient fades. As seen in the photos, the layering throughout this garment is exceptionally rich: from pleated detailing along the bodice to the deep purple bow at the waist, right down to the tiers of billowing sheer chiffon cascading along the sleeves, every element strives to recreate the organic rhythm of rippling sea waves.

The wig was chosen in pale platinum blonde woven with pastel pink and sky-blue highlights. The silk blooms and pearl adornments on top were hand-sewn piece by piece by my stylist and me, including the violet satin ribbons and shell-like hair ornaments; finding that organic curve required multiple styling trials. For makeup, to evoke the ethereal, non-human quality of a mermaid, the eyes were sculpted with a purple-blue eyeshadow wash overlaid with micro-glitter, paired with carefully sourced matching contact lenses and glossy, translucent lips that retained a dewy, water-kissed finish.

The set design on shoot day was meticulously curated. Cascading wisteria blooms, an antique circular wooden frame, and a specially treated reflective water-effect floor all worked in tandem to craft a mirage-like underwater sanctuary. I also brought a purple-and-white plush companion as an interactive prop. The photographer encouraged me to stay thoroughly relaxed, imagining myself drifting effortlessly through water or lounging at ease. The cover shot, sitting cross-legged on the wooden deck, was designed to showcase the cascading gradient hemline alongside clean leg lines. Another frame reaching toward the lens utilized a wide aperture to blur the foreground, creating a warm, interactive spark.

Embodying Dolia was an absolute joy—her personality is bubbly and full of playful spirit, allowing me to explore more mischievous yet tender glances. While this Fantasy style cosplay packs immense visual punch, wearing it was no easy feat; managing the weight of the ruffled sleeves and securing the heavy headpiece demanded constant vigilance. Yet seeing the final deliverables made every ounce of effort and preparation deeply fulfilling.
