[Alisaie cosplay] Final Fantasy XIV: The fashion evening gown Girl in a Sunflower Greenhouse

The inspiration for this shoot directly stemmed from that wildly popular, foolproof S-plot house interior decorating tutorial in Final Fantasy XIV—which joked that filling the garden with sunflowers would spawn a cute girl in a fashion evening gown. So, I literally turned myself into that girl and brought Alisaie's outfit into a real-life greenhouse!

To faithfully recreate this fashion evening gown, extensive prep went into the garment tailoring early on. The top's grey-and-white color blocking, the black bow on the chest, and the row of small golden buttons were all custom-tailored strictly according to in-game details. As for hair, Alisaie's white short hair naturally carries a bouncy, fluffy volume, and that iconic signature ahoge cowlick at the crown was an absolute must; trimming and styling the wig took quite a bit of time. For makeup, to capture her persona, I wore bright blue contact lenses and kept the eye makeup relatively understated, maintaining a fresh and translucent look.

The shooting venue on the day was a sun-drenched greenhouse. Lush green vines cascaded from the glass ceiling, set against sweeping beds of vibrant yellow sunflowers and white daisies. The core creative philosophy behind this set was effortless naturalness. Rather than forcing dramatic, rigid poses, I stayed as relaxed as possible—leaning gently against a wooden windowsill or sitting on a wooden bench nestled among the blooms. In the first shot, using a vintage water faucet and a woven wicker basket as props, I leaned forward, allowing the natural daylight to strike from the side and illuminate the contours of my face, while the soft out-of-focus sunflowers in the background added visual depth. In the second seated shot, shifting my center of gravity slightly onto my legs with hands folded softly over my knees showcased the dress's skirt hem while making the composition feel fluid and dynamic. The third half-body close-up focused on capturing the intricate ruffle detailing along the neckline and shoulders in this Greenhouse photography session.

Shooting this outfit in a greenhouse made managing natural light essential. The diffuse daylight filtering through the glass ceiling was incredibly soft, eliminating the need for heavy lighting gear; simply avoiding the harsh midday glare was enough to achieve a warm, glowing, translucent tonal palette. It was quite breezy that day, and the sunflowers swaying in the wind injected so much organic life into the frame. I especially loved the tiered, cascading layers of the skirt and its grey stripes, which showed remarkable tactile texture under the sun.

The entire shoot felt like an interdimensional housing makeover project, flawlessly transplanting that healing, warm atmosphere of the game into tangible reality. Looking through the lens at the greenhouse and this dress, it truly gave me the illusion of basking in the sun in a garden straight out of Final Fantasy XIV.
