The core focus of this Arona cosplay shoot was capturing an ethereal, cool serenity within a pure white setting, alongside nuanced body language. Pre-production involved preparing a light blue gradient wig, matching halo, and rabbit-ear hair accessories; for wardrobe, we experimented with both a white bodysuit (Bodysuit style) and a light blue sailor suit.
The session was conducted in a seamless Pure white studio shoot backdrop, primarily utilizing a wood-grain classroom desk and a white cushion with geometric patterns as props. Softboxes provided even, diffused lighting across the studio, effectively eliminating harsh shadows, ensuring translucent skin tones, and rendering a clean visual aesthetic true to the character concept in Anime-style photography.
Composition-wise, we explored various seated poses throughout the shoot. For instance, sitting in the chair with legs resting on the desk visually showcased leg lines and the sleek cut of the bodysuit; however, holding this posture required solid core strength, as toes could easily look rigid if neglected. During shooting, I consciously relaxed my ankles and adjusted the gentle curl of my toes to keep the lines natural. Additionally, using the cushion to partially cover the chest while revealing the collarbones and shoulders created a visual harmony of comfort and subtle allure.
Expression control was another critical element. Arona's demeanor leans toward a slightly detached yet effortless composure, so before the lens, I kept my gaze calm and focused, with slightly raised brows to bring out an elusive hint of a smile rather than exaggerated theatrical expressions.
Regarding styling and costume details: due to the fabric properties of the white bodysuit, creases easily formed across the abdomen when seated. I had to remain vigilant while adjusting wig pieces and smoothing garment hems to prevent visual flaws. Being a barefoot concept also demanded uniform skin tones across the soles and legs, requiring post-processing to retouch dullness around knees and ankles alongside subtle redness from prolonged posing.
The full shoot lasted about three hours. Cool-toned garments against a pure white backdrop severely test skin texture, so color grading focused on lifting brightness while balancing rosy undertones. I especially love the shot lying across the desk—the relaxed drape of the arms against the seamless white setting evokes a unique sense of languid grace. Overall, this series not only faithfully recreated the character's visual design from Blue Archive, but also infused rich personality into the character through varied body language.
