[Shun (Small) Cosplay] Blue Archive's Eastern Charm: A Little Pixie with Twintails and Beast Ears

This set of photos for Shun (Small) Cosplay is finally edited and out. From the early preparation to the on-site shooting, there are actually many details I want to share with everyone, which can also serve as a review of this photoshoot for my Coser daily life.

Regarding the costume, the modified Chinese-style short outfit in the original illustration is actually very exquisite. The deep navy blue base fabric has a matte finish, which beautifully restores the character's steady feel, while the green Chinese frogs at the collar and the white borders at the cuffs form a striking contrast, preventing the outfit from looking too dull. The white print on the chest actually needs to be hand-drawn or ironed on; for a smooth fit, I chose heat transfer printing so the patterns wouldn't deform even with clothing creases during outdoor or studio shoots. Paired with tight black shorts, it not only elongates the visual proportion but also makes it convenient to perform various large-scale poses and movements.

The hairstyle was one of the major highlights this time. The straight long bangs paired with fluffy twintails required a lot of effort to style the wig. Especially the bangs, which needed careful trimming to ensure they partially draped over the forehead without completely blocking the green eyes and eye makeup. To make the twintails look natural and frizz-free, I used hair wax and setting spray to repeatedly shape them. The beast ear hair accessories feature a black-base-white-fur plush texture; to increase dimensionality, a support net was padded inside the ear canal, so the ears maintain their shape perfectly whether I bow or tilt my head. The semi-transparent halo on top of my head was also DIY-ed by myself, using acrylic material and secured behind the beast ears with thin iron wire into the wig parting—it is held very securely. The four-leaf clover cross hairpin on the right side, though just a small embellishment, is highly eye-catching and serves as a perfect detail touch.

For the makeup, the base was kept as clean and fair as possible, highlighting the skin texture under close-up shots. The eye makeup was key, using warm brown eyeshadow as a base, deepening it at the outer corners, and combined with green circle lenses to restore the character's pupil color. The blush on the cheeks must be placed at the right height, blending slightly upward toward the center of the face, which not only looks youthful on camera but also brings out the girl's cute, naive charm. Under the coordination of the blush and eye makeup, the overall expression is lively yet serene.

The shooting day took place on a wooden bench setting with soft light, which is perfect for displaying a quiet, comfortable atmosphere. I chose to sit sideways on the bench, leaning my body slightly, with one hand propping up my chin. This pose is actually very deliberate, showing off the details of the Chinese-style top and the collar on the upper body while creating a strong black-and-white contrast with the white stockings and black shorts below, beautifully highlighting the leg lines. The prop gun was not held in hand but leaned diagonally behind my side. This has the advantage of retaining the character's signature elements, adding narrative and depth to the frame, without blocking the character's torso with a bulky prop, ensuring that the audience's visual focus remains on the face and clothing.

Players who are familiar with this character know that Shun (Small) possesses a mature yet youthful charm, blending Eastern aura with modern liveliness. While striving to restore the clothing details, I also specifically looked for this subtle balance in expression control—not deliberately acting overly cute, but capturing that naturally flowing affinity. During post-production editing, I preserved some skin textures and natural folds of the clothing without excessive skin smoothing, which made the overall image closer to the real environment and filled with more airy feel. For the beast ears, hair accessories, and the contours of the white stockings twintails outfit, local sharpening was applied to make the photos' details look sharper and clearer.

This cosplay process, from polishing a prop to the final version of a photo, indeed took a lot of energy, but it also allowed me to deeply experience the character's charm. This attempt to bring a 2D character into the 3D reality of our Coser daily life always brings me great satisfaction.
