On Day 4 of the REDLAND Expo, I finally met everyone at the Arknights booth! This time I cosplayed Amiya. Though I've cosplayed her many times before, being on the convention floor brings a distinct and exciting experience every single time. This costume features rich dimensional layering: a white ruffled inner blouse paired with a navy blue and teal color-blocked coat. Getting dressed took patience, especially smoothing out each tier of the cascading ruffled collar to ensure it presented the best three-dimensional depth on camera. The Rhodes Island lettering and logo detailing on the coat caught the convention hall lights with great texture. I deliberately chose a navy fabric with structured weight that avoided feeling stuffy—its drape was just right, keeping poses and strides grounded rather than flimsy.
To authentically capture Amiya's signature look, I gave the beast ears on top special attention. I strove for a soft, realistic plush texture, hand-painting the subtle gradient inside the inner ears with delicate pigments. Paired with the monochrome geometric crown headpiece, I was really satisfied with how the head styling turned out. The crown was sculpted from lightweight materials with smoothed edges, so wearing it all day caused no discomfort. For makeup, vibrant bright blue circle lenses were essential, and I rounded out the eye makeup to enhance an innocent, endearing sweetness. The wig was meticulously cut and styled with elongated sideburns and subtle iridescent highlights that shimmered beautifully as I turned my head under the convention spotlights.
The staff prop took the most dedication. It has substantial volume, crafted from EVA foam and lightweight clay with a metallic painted finish. To keep it manageable for walking the show floor, I extensively hollowed and weight-reduced the core, though holding it for hours still left my wrists slightly sore. Yet, the moment I raised the staff at the booth and heard enthusiastic Arknights Doctors in the crowd cheering 'Amiya!', it felt truly magical. Many passionate players came over for photos and kindly pointed out subtle details—like whether the Originium lesion pattern on the back of my hand was accurate, or admiring the sharp cuff silhouette. I made sure not to overlook hand details either: wearing black rings on my fingers and painting the black markings across the back of my hands with body paint, while reinforcing the sharp flared cuffs with stiffening interlining so they stood upright crisply for photos.
At the booth, many fellow fans stopped by to swap photos, sharing thoughts and passion for the game and characters. Several photographers guided me through diverse stances—from subtle three-quarter profile glances to intense, commanding poses gripping the staff with both hands—while watching facial lighting carefully. Even though walking the show floor all day left me exhausted with aching feet, seeing everyone capture these moments on their phones and cameras made all the preparation worthwhile. Interacting with the staff at the booth was delightful, and the hall's energy was exhilarating. My experience at REDLAND was deeply fulfilling, and connecting with everyone in this way made it a thoroughly joyous day!
