[Theresa Cosplay] A Faithful Recreation at Arknights Hypergryph Carnival

In recreating Theresa, the hardest challenge lies in capturing that singular aura where gentle warmth and distant poise seamlessly coexist. Invited as an official cosplayer to this Hypergryph Carnival, every single phase from makeup and hair styling to props was prepared with utmost dedication. To faithfully align with the character's design, the wig was treated with a delicate gradient shifting from pale pink to coral, with subtle reddish streaks at the tips and her signature black horns atop the crown undergoing repeated adjustments. The hairstyle demanded maintaining a voluminous yet face-framing curve, which required extensive setting and styling. For makeup, the eye styling favored reddish palettes paired with crimson contact lenses, sharp black diamond accents drawn at the outer eye corners, and slightly deepened blush, all striving to project an aesthetic that felt both tender and poignantly delicate.

The garment layers and structural nuances are remarkably intricate. A black high-neck base layer is overlaid with a white sleeveless silhouette, where the chest keyhole cut-outs and black straps transition organically. The most painstaking elements to manage were the voluminous, oversized detached sleeves—the hemlines required irregular frayed and tasseled finishes. When walking or posing, the black ribbons draping from the waist and skirt hem were prone to tangling, so testing the placement of hidden interior snaps took multiple fittings to finalize. The medallion pinned to the chest features an orange circular center, and while the long-handled staff prop was crafted from lightweight materials, its surface was treated with metallic lacquer for peak on-stage visual presence. Balancing its center of gravity also took considerable work to ensure holding and posing with it over extended periods looked effortless and completely devoid of stiffness.

The energy at the Hypergryph Carnival was incredible; set against a massive Rhodes Island emblem, blue-purple stage lighting cascaded down, harmonizing flawlessly with the black-and-white gown. Standing on stage before so many passionate players, I strove to maintain Theresa's composed, gracious demeanor. Extending an open palm or softly clasping hands in front were deliberate gestures crafted to convey the character's innate, quiet reservoir of strength. Stepping into a character with such profound narrative gravity inevitably brings a touch of nervous tension, worrying whether every subtlety was honored. Yet witnessing the warmth and recognition from everyone at the venue made all the fatigue of endless prop revisions and makeup trials instantly vanish. Being able to complete such a heartfelt tribute to a beloved 2D character alongside the community is truly one of the most treasured parts of cosplay.
