The flowing black habit carried an unmistakable vintage weight, layered over a cream ruffle-trimmed blouse with delicately pleated collar and cuffs. The lower half was paired with crisp White stockings and black Mary Janes, while a silver crucifix necklace hung against the chest. The makeup strongly sculpted eye contours with deepened socket shading, matched with dark lip tones to project an enigmatic, austere demeanor.
The prop department prepared a massive solid timber crucifix; to embody the mortification of a penitent nun, I wrapped coarse jute rope around the intersection, distressing the wood subtly. What made this shoot uniquely compelling was the inclusion of two firearm props—a long-barrel shotgun and a sidearm pistol. To amplify compositional tension, I even held a heavy metal chain between my teeth. Merging devotional religious motifs with tactical ordnance layered an overt aura of lethal danger over an already unyielding monastic silhouette.
The location was set beside stonework architecture under the cover of night. Stone staircases, masonry walls, and classical marble statues formed an evocative narrative canvas. Numerous thick amber pillar candles served as practical key lights; their warm flickering glow tangled with the cold night breeze, instantly establishing peak atmosphere. Atmospheric smoke was diffused across the scene to scatter light, introducing rich dimensional depth into every frame.
Physically holding the wooden cross during kinetic posing was an authentic test of endurance. The prop carried substantial heft; to project natural body language, I had to grip the crossbeam firmly or brace the foot against the flagstones. To highlight the stark visual juxtaposition between the White stockings and the long shotgun, I tested varied seated stances—crossing my legs atop stone steps or reclining into the corner of the wall with limbs extended. Handling the firearms allowed no room for slack: forearms and wrists remained taut, with my line of sight tracking the muzzle trajectory in focused vigilance.
