The archive from Day 2 of CICF 2026 is finally sorted out! This time, I cosplayed Odette from Genshin Impact. Let's start with the costume: it features a classic blue-and-white color palette. To ensure a flowing drape and kinetic motion, the skirt was constructed with multiple lightweight tiers. Securing the golden patterns across the chest and the teardrop-shaped patchwork took considerable effort. The slender, arched headpiece was especially prone to getting bumped in dense crowds, so I had to navigate the exhibition hall with extreme caution today. The wig is a soft greyish-blue styled with braids; the stylist sculpted dimensional layers true to the original character design, reinforced with numerous bobby pins underneath to preserve the curls and volume throughout the entire day. For makeup, to complement the 2D aesthetic, I wore purple-pink cosmetic lenses and applied a gradient eyeshadow technique, deepening the outer corners to give the eyes extra depth.
Today's CICF venue was immense, and the outdoor daylight was quite bright. Shot by photographer NightDiva, we took advantage of the flattering afternoon light to scout outdoor spots around the plaza outside the expo hall. The first photo captures a profile glance over my shoulder, with my hand resting at my neckline to highlight the delicate cutouts at the collar and back. The second was framed leaning against a lighting stand next to the stone steps; a slight forward tilt better showcased the skirt's rich tiers and my waistline. The third is a full-body composition: paired with white semi-sheer pantyhose (Stockings) and golden lace-up heels, my leg lines appeared remarkably elongated, so we opted for a low-angle perspective to channel the character's refined grace.
Shooting on-site at conventions involves many unpredictable elements, such as passersby and assorted equipment in the background. We steered clear of the heaviest crowds to find cleaner angles, employing a wide aperture and slightly underexposing the background to draw all visual focus directly onto the character. Walking all day in high heels was undeniably exhausting, especially on the ankles, but the resulting photos thoroughly justified every bit of effort. This cosplay is packed with delicate nuances—such as the translucent detached sleeves, the navy blue ruffles at the wrists, and the tiered skirt—all delivering fantastic drape and fluid motion. I was initially worried the silhouette might look bulky, but the actual result turned out wonderfully. The on-site lighting environment was complex, yet natural outdoor light paired with a single bounce reflector was more than enough to sculpt a luminous, translucent texture.
Cosplaying Odette brought me immense joy today; though the process felt hectic at times, watching the blue skirt sway with my movements in the photos made it all deeply worthwhile. Wearability-wise, the bodice is exceptionally snug, requiring me to hold a tall, poised posture throughout without bending over too deeply. Although the hair ornament is exquisite, its center of gravity leans slightly forward, requiring conscious balance while walking. CICF D2 drew massive crowds, with photographers and fellow fans frequently coming over to snap photos together; each time I paused to pose, I had to ensure my train wasn't stepped on and that my headpiece didn't catch onto anyone's bag. Regarding photography, NightDiva demonstrated consummate mastery over light and shadow. Across the plaza, side light raked across the ensemble, perfectly sculpting the garment's dimensionality. To match different backgrounds, we experimented with eye-level, high-angle, and low-angle framing. For instance, in the final full-body shot, the camera was positioned low to emphasize leg length and overall proportions while keeping perspective distortion under tight control. The entire shoot lasted about thirty minutes; though tiring, encountering a photographer you click with seamlessly at a convention is truly rare. Removing my makeup tonight, I noticed the wig cap had left deep pressure marks, but that's just par for the course in cosplay. That's all for this archive share!
