[Olivier Cosplay] Brown Dust 2: What I've Always Wanted Is a Flat and Stable Life - Image 2

In Brown Dust 2, Olivier's story always carries a bit of depth and perseverance, so for this shoot, I also wanted to try my best to present that relaxed yet story-filled state. This time, instead of choosing a particularly complex combat scene, I selected an indoor sofa with a strong daily feel, wanting to capture a quiet moment belonging to her.

Regarding this styling, many people might be attracted by the long golden hair and reddish eye makeup at first glance. I also put a lot of thought into trimming the wig and parting the bangs. To match the character's hair color and texture, I adjusted the color difference under the lights several times in advance to ensure that it looks like the soft gold texture everyone is familiar with. The inner layer is a minimalist white camisole, with a gray extra-long-sleeve off-the-shoulder blouse added on the outside; this layered design can create depth without looking overly heavy. The skirt selected is a dark gray irregular high-slit midi skirt, which can properly reveal the leg lines when walking or sitting down, looking very casual and perfectly echoing Olivier's usual dressing habit of not aiming to be flashy.

In terms of accessories, my favorite is this ruby-style necklace. Under the bright silver frame setting, the texture of the ruby is very eye-catching, adding a visual focus to the overall light-colored outfit. On the feet, I paired them with silver high-heeled stiletto-strap sandals; the multi-layered strap design makes the legs look slender, creating a visual extension right at the slit of the skirt hem, giving the sitting posture more linearity.

During the shoot, the photographer chose a relatively high high-angle and semi-side-lying angle. Leaning on the bright orange leather sofa, the high saturation of the orange brings out a fuller complexion and exactly adds a warm tone of daily life to the frame. The green plants and some small signboards in the background serve as embellishments, making the scene look like a leisurely afternoon corner. In the first photo, I leaned slightly back against the sofa with my head tilted up, finding a highly relaxed position, and then shifted my weight onto my crossed legs, completely letting my guard down. This languid feeling perfectly fits the flat and peaceful vibe I wanted to express this time. The composition of the second photo is more random; I also lifted my arm to smooth the hair next to me, and my expression is slightly more agile than the first one, but it is still that cozy, everyday atmosphere.

Speaking of the topic of a "flat life," actually casual cosplay itself is quite an interesting thing—portraying all kinds of characters and experiencing their joys and sorrows. But many times, after finishing the photos and styling, what I cherish most instead are these brief moments spending time with the character. Just like Olivier, no matter what kind of background she is in, what she ultimately longs for is a quiet, ordinary, and solid life. I've always felt that putting a character into everyday scenery is the most romantic yet grounded way of expression. Therefore, this time we didn't intentionally arrange that kind of big-cast luxurious studio setting, but just chose this sofa in a corner of the living room, using the most natural light and the most comfortable movements to complete this set.

Regarding the omissions in makeup, a light-colored colored contact lens was selected this time, paired with red eyeshadow blended around the edges, plus a relatively light pink-nude lipstick. In this way, the overall look carries the character's recognition without appearing overly aggressive. The contouring of the eye makeup was made as delicate as possible, so that even in this relatively casual scenario, everyone can instantly recognize where her temperament lies. During the shooting process, I changed several postures on the sofa; whether leaning back or leaning forward, I could feel that this clothing has high inclusivity, not making me feel bound by the styling. Although the silver thin-strap high heels look sharp, stepping on the cushion during the shoot actually felt very stable, allowing me to maintain excellent balance even in this slanted leaning posture.

Many people struggle when doing a photoshoot over whether to restore the highlight moments in the official art or to lean close to the character's daily state. But I belong to the more easygoing type; as long as it has the flavor that this character should have, whether on the battlefield or on a day off, it is worth recording. For example, the silver shoes I paired in this photo set look like they are for attending a party, but placed between the orange sofa and green plants, they conversely present a wonderful contrast charm, looking very urban and modern. This collision between daily life and the 2D world makes me feel that the joy of doing cosplay lies not only in "looking like" the character but also in using my way to make her as vibrant as a friend around you.

Finally, when organizing the finished photos for this cosplay photography session, I am highly satisfied with this bright and soft lighting quality without heavy shadows, making the character's contours and clothing details very clear. I feel that a finished product carrying warmth like this can also be counted as a way to realize the wish of "wanting to live a flat life with ut." In short, I hope everyone can also feel a sense of relaxation and stability from this set of photos.
