The air conditioning at the Zhongshan AS Comic Convention was freezing; putting on this Azur Lane Bai Feng costume, chilly air rushed straight into the bare-shoulder and waist cutouts, making it feel like an absolute icebox.
Changing into the outfit and wig was quite hectic. Long white hair tangles easily, and the striped black-and-white bow atop my head required multiple U-pins to secure against wobbling. The silky fabric possessed a beautiful sheen and graceful drape, but creased quickly, requiring continuous smoothing before shots. The collar and cuffs featured black ocean-wave prints, while tassels and silver ornaments dangled from the obi sash, demanding careful footing to keep from tangling. Holding a black-and-white folding fan half-opened across the face created a veil of mystery. The combination of White stockings and high heels left the tops of my feet sore after standing for hours, but maintaining a subtle cross-legged stance elongated leg lines and gave full-body portraits a sleek, seamless contour. The expansive flowing sleeves were a favorite feature, creating dynamic motion that the photographer captured in mid-flutter.
Ambient hall lights paired with reflector fill brought out a translucent radiance in the white garments. For makeup, custom contacts, winged eyeliner, and soft pink lips channeled the character's refined aura. Wide apertures washed out crowded background distractions, keeping the subject in sharp focus. Fighting the indoor chill while keeping the obi knotted and hemline layers tidy took genuine endurance. Wrapping up in a coat between takes and rubbing my hands warm felt entirely worth it once the raw frames previewed cleanly. The crisp monochrome palette, White stockings, and billowing sleeves yielded an elegant, poised presence, making this convention shoot deeply memorable.
