Today I want to share my recent seaside photoshoot experience with everyone! This session featured Wakaba Mutsumi cosplay from MyGO!!!!!, styled around a breezy summer travel motif. To blend harmoniously with the ocean setting, I selected a white short-sleeved sundress designed with delicate pleating and shirring along the neckline and bodice, accented by two scarlet ribbons tied into bows to inject a touch of vivid color contrast. On my head, I wore a woven straw sunhat trimmed with ruffled scalloped lace, paired with minimalist brown flat sandals on my feet. For props, I carried a small woven wicker basket alongside a delicate bouquet of white wild daisies gathered during the shoot.
The location was set along a seaside wooden boardwalk bordering clusters of coastal foliage. Around three in the afternoon, the sunlight was gorgeously abundant, filtering through the leafy boughs to cast dancing, dappled shadows across the walkway while the sea breeze drifted through continuously. To honor the character's quiet temperament, I steered clear of sweeping dynamic poses, relying instead on understated, contemplative micro-gestures—such as lightly touching the brim of the straw hat or lifting the dress hem while walking with a bowed head. Wearing a flowing white dress outdoors has the wonderful advantage of billowing into effortless, organic ripples whenever the wind gusts. However, it also came with its share of challenges: the sea breeze easily whipped my green tresses and skirt into disarray, requiring continuous detangling and readjustment. Yet, ironically, that wind-swept casualness made the frames feel even more alive and authentic.
Leaning against the railing on the boardwalk, the background opened onto a vast azure ocean flanked by distant mountain silhouettes, with the white metal balustrade and pristine white dress looking remarkably clean and radiant under the sun. The frame where I held the floral bouquet while glancing downward reflected that intended state of quiet serenity. When posing seated among the greenery—surrounded by broadleaf plants and prickly cacti—I lowered my center of gravity as much as possible to preserve an airy, weightless poise. The straw hat had an expansive wide brim, which cast deep facial shadows that could easily obscure makeup nuances; consequently, I had to continuously adjust the angle of my face to let the natural daylight illuminate my features.
For makeup, I deliberately avoided heavy, dramatic eyeshadow, prioritizing a sheer, translucent, and clean finish with soft, natural brow definition and fresh skin texture. The wig was styled to preserve her signature blunt bangs, with the side and back lengths draping naturally over my chest and shoulders to catch the drifting sea breeze with graceful flow. Overall, this series achieved everything I envisioned, achieving seamless harmony between attire and scenery for a truly smooth outdoor photography journey.
