This time, I bring you a Cheshire Cat cosplay from Azur Lane, choosing a Blue and white maid outfit perfectly suited for showcasing the character's adorable nature. The outfit features rich layering: the outer layer is a deep blue apron-style mini skirt accented with golden lines, while underneath lies a multi-layered white ruffled petticoat tutu, giving ample visual volume to the lower half. The detachable white lantern sleeves are attached to the upper arms with blue bows; as I walked, the sleeves and long white ribbons swayed in the breeze, injecting plenty of dynamism into the still photographs.
The headpiece is also full of distinct character: interwoven blue-and-white ribbons, lace, and layered white floral ornaments—while somewhat heavy, they truly accentuate the character's vibrant charm. I specifically matched it with a dark greyish-black base wig featuring blue highlights, paired with silver-blue contact lenses to align with the character's unique eye makeup.
The venue chosen for this shoot was a large anime convention hall where neat arrays of circular overhead lights provided abundant, even illumination, casting almost no harsh shadows on the face and rendering the skin tone translucent. The grey reflective floor brightened the entire frame, though it easily collected dust; wearing white over-the-knee socks and white chunky-heeled Mary Janes in this White thigh-highs outfit, I made sure to wipe the floor clean before shooting to keep the light colors pristine. These white ruffled lace-up socks and chunky heels not only elongated leg proportions, but also became an eye-catching highlight, harmonizing seamlessly with the overall refreshing and cute style for these Convention photos.
To capture the character's buoyant agility during shooting, I tried numerous dynamic motion snaps. Poses like the one in Photo 2—lifting one leg with arms outstretched—required repeatedly tuning the flare of the skirt hem and the drift of the ribbons to capture an effortless, aesthetically pleasing look. Because the skirt is voluminous and covered in ribbons, my first attempt easily got me tangled up, nearly tripping me over, demanding considerable physical coordination throughout. After finishing this set, I was genuinely working up a sweat; between the weighty headpiece and the layered skirts, it took real physical effort, but viewing the finished shots on the screen made every bit of energy spent feel worthwhile.
I believe the most crucial aspect of bringing this character to life lies in the gaze and that mischievous charm. The Cheshire Cat from Azur Lane is full of delightful contrast, exuding deep trust and affectionate intimacy toward the Commander in every gesture. Facing the camera, I consciously channeled a relaxed smile, allowing the lively and cheeky aura to flow naturally rather than through rigid poses. The front bowtie, golden border accents, and white inner structure crisply flatter the upper silhouette, which, paired with the White thigh-highs outfit and puffy skirt below, delivers an energetic maiden visual that never feels overly cloying. In post-processing color adjustments, we deliberately muted stray tones to emphasize the purity of the blue and white palette, giving the entire photo set a crisp, clean aesthetic. As a set of Convention photos, from costume preparations to on-camera presence, I did my utmost to embody my personal understanding of this character.
