[Hanasato Minori cosplay] Project Sekai Home-Style Studio Shoot: The White Stockings Sailor Suit is Truly Too Cute

Today, at the Star Comic Films home-style studio, we captured this sailor suit look for Hanasato Minori from Project Sekai. Unfolding this long-sleeve grey sailor suit, I was constantly contemplating how to authentically manifest that unhurried yet spirited daily atmosphere within an indoor studio. Selecting the home-style studio at Star Comic Films was largely driven by the warm-toned aesthetic of its tatami mats and wooden bookshelves. Paired with intentionally curated long reddish-brown wavy curls and an orange floral hairclip pinned to the side, the foundational mood of the styling was securely established. In terms of wardrobe details, the grey long-sleeve sailor suit is accented by its iconic red neckerchief bow, with black-and-white striping along the collar and cuffs amplifying the uniform aesthetic. The lower half features a matching grey pleated skirt paired with pure White stockings. To echo this cozy homebody mood, I also prepared a small plush bear dressed in brown dungarees as a prop.

Photographer Master He is exceptionally skilled at capturing natural chiaroscuro. When staging the set, we incorporated a vintage boombox radio, an acoustic guitar, and several oversized plush teddy bears. The walls of the home studio were lined with monochrome manga storyboards, while bookshelves were adorned with English volumes and small trinkets—details that infused the frame with authentic anime slice-of-life vitality. Throughout the session, we explored numerous relaxed home-living postures: lounging across the tatami with legs casually resting on a low cabinet, shooting top-down while hugging the bear, or reclining on side mats resting my chin in hand while gazing at the lens. The white stockings looked remarkably soft under warm illumination, establishing a comforting visual contrast against the grey skirt. The photographer intuitively captured micro-expressions during my interactions with the plushies; when I shielded my face behind both hands, peering into the camera through finger gaps, that charming blend of playfulness and cozy languor was instantly frozen in time.

What pleased me most were several wide-angle and top-down shots that not only showcased the natural lines of the white stockings and legs, but also incorporated the surrounding lived-in set dressing. The entire shoot flowed seamlessly; rolling around barefoot in white stockings atop the tatami never felt chilly. While this sailor suit isn't excessively loud in coloration, under this ambient warm light, it radiates a reassuring, therapeutic warmth. As Minori Hanasato's everyday casual wear, this grey JK uniform is truly made for a stay-at-home theme. The studio lights delivered that exceptionally gentle amber glow, casting a soft, fuzzy texture over the grey-blue hemlines. The long white hosiery didn't feel out of place at all; instead, it neutralized the muted weight of the grey, injecting buoyant lightness into the styling. When posing, I deliberately extended my leg lines, as the pairing of pleated skirts and the absolute territory (zettai ryouiki) is the most iconic visual hallmark of JK uniforms. I rested my center of gravity on my elbows with relaxed shoulders, letting my guard down completely, as effortless ease is the core of this home-living theme. That vintage boombox served not just as a backdrop, but as a silent companion through a languid afternoon. Cradling the acoustic wooden guitar alongside the giant teddy bear immediately summoned beloved anime tropes of daydreaming beneath golden afternoon rays. I adore the inverted perspective in Photo 5—with the red bow and grey fabric commanding the center while my hands veil most of my face to reveal only the eyes, creating a composition steeped in gentle mystique and buoyant warmth. Today's shoot wrapped up smoothly, and I look forward to taking on even more challenging scenes next time.
