A lot of effort went into pre-shoot preparation for this Yin Yue photo set from A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality. For hair, makeup, and styling, I faithfully recreated Yin Yue's iconic design: long silver-white hair paired with fluffy beast ears gives the head styling instant recognition. The core garment is an off-white modified traditional robe embroidered with cloud patterns, trimmed with a ring of fluffy white fur around the collar, and featuring detached flowing wide sleeves that enhance the graceful flutter of every movement. The vivid orange-red sash at the waist serves as the focal highlight, instantly catching the eye against the dark wooden backdrop. To match the character's serene and ethereal nature, I went barefoot. During the shoot, a wide-angle lens with a low perspective was used to dramatically elongate the leg lines, enhancing proportions while giving the bare feet and legs a soft, delicate sheen.
The poses and expressions in the first two sitting shots capture the physical essence of a fox spirit: hands slightly raised with curved wrists mimicking a feline or vulpine paw stretch, paired with a direct gaze into the lens that instantly evokes a blend of languid ease and dangerous allure. We also fine-tuned the crossing angle of the legs so the light and shadows fell evenly across the skin. The set was a real-life classical Chinese study with a circular carved wooden window letting in amber-warm backlight, which formed a sharp, striking cool-warm contrast against my porcelain skin and silver hair, making the subject immediately pop. The background featured a weapon rack and bonsai pine on the left, a bookshelf stacked with bamboo slips and scrolls on the right, and wooden boxes and scrolls scattered across the foreground table—each prop subtly reinforcing the immortal cultivation lore. In the first set, I sat on the dark table, letting the red sash drape naturally to create a bold contrast. The third shot features me sitting on a white fur mat, cradling bamboo slips with a lowered head to reveal a tranquil, dignified demeanor, highlighting the textural contrast between fur and skin. Black straps with silver chains around the thigh add a subtle modern flair without disrupting the Ancient style cosplay harmony.
Because this shoot pursued authentic fidelity and premium quality, post-processing avoided excessive skin smoothing, preserving natural skin textures and the silky drape of the fabric, with the background slightly darkened to elevate the foreground subject. Minor wide-angle lens distortions were carefully corrected to ensure facial proportions remained true. To maintain the scholarly air of an immortal sect, I kept my postures graceful and relaxed, avoiding stiff movements that would crease the robe. Across angles, poses, and expressions, every effort was made to honor Yin Yue's tsundere, aloof, and mysterious fox-clan aura, making this one of my most satisfying works and a wonderful creative experience in Anime-style photography.
