This photoshoot was a Jeanne d'Arc cosplay concept I had been planning for a long time. In keeping with the line "What the music box turns is not just melody, but dust-covered stories," considerable effort went into set building. The photographer @Shiwang chose an antique, dark wooden wardrobe and utilized the mirror reflection on the doors to create multiple layers of depth. The background featured a classical crystal chandelier, which, paired with on-site lighting and a fog machine, cultivated an ambiance that felt shadowy yet warm.
In terms of costume, this black-and-white Maid outfit is remarkably intricate in detail. The neckline and cuffs feature generous white ruffles, and the skirt hem is layered gracefully. I specifically selected over-the-knee White stockings and gloves. To better showcase silhouette lines during shooting, I deliberately adjusted my seated posture inside the cabinet space, extending my legs forward to elongate visual length through perspective, keeping the texture of the stockings and leg lines in the center of the frame.
For makeup and styling, complementing the blonde hair and silver-white metal headpiece, I went with a cool, slightly melancholic makeup look with a distant, vacant gaze—projecting the vulnerability of an exquisite doll trapped inside a music box. The photoshoot utilized strong contrasts between cool and warm lighting, as the interplay of temperatures better revealed the texture of the skin. When clicking the shutter, the photographer continuously guided my hand gestures and chin angles to ensure sharp, clear contours even in shadowed areas.
Regarding the character's personality in FGO Fate, I feel this somewhat melancholic and serene portrayal fits perfectly. Instead of a fiery battle scene, it captures a quiet moment of looking back at the past. Paired with this costume that beautifully accentuates chest and leg lines, set against the dark wooden cabinet, the visual tension is striking. We experimented with various angles—from full-body compositions to half-body close-ups—ultimately choosing this well-balanced image as the key visual, keeping the subject centered with focused attention. The lighting skillfully sculpted the character's edges, preventing the black outfit from blending into the background.
For Jeanne d'Arc's ensemble, the black-and-white ruffled design tests body proportions, but pairing a dress with long stockings easily creates the illusion of long legs, which certainly helped. Post-processing preserved the hazy smoke to enhance narrative depth. With the overall tone dimmed, the subject feels like a memory emerging from a vintage gramophone. I hope everyone appreciates our thoughtful set arrangement: classical chandelier lighting paired with the vintage patina of the wooden cabinet, plus cool-toned haze, perfectly bringing out the music box texture. The shoot was delightful with seamless teamwork, and the final result fully matched my original vision.
