Shooting this Genshin Impact Tsaritsa cosplay photo set actually came with plenty of practical challenges behind the scenes. Let's talk about the outfit first—the costume featuring fishnets and a trailing gown was extremely tedious to put on; the white fishnets were not only prone to snagging but also shifted out of place easily when adjusting poses. The gown material needed a certain drape while still fanning out under a wide-angle lens, so we tested several different fabrics. When shooting the first photo lying against the white architecture, my waist and legs were actively bearing weight to support me. The photographer used a wide-angle lens and low angle to elongate the visual proportions of the legs, and this upward angle places high demands on the model's posing. The bow tie at the chest and the semi-sheer fabric on the sleeves reflected light easily under harsh illumination, requiring careful adjustments to reflection angles so they would appear crystal-clear like this. Next were the wig and ice crystal headpieces; these accessories together had notable weight, and securing them tightly so they wouldn't fall off during the shoot caused a dizzying feeling over time. To echo the Tsaritsa's cool, aloof demeanor, I specifically applied cold-toned blue eyeshadow paired with red colored contacts, giving my gaze a sharper intensity on camera. As for the venue, it was a pure white European classical mock-up set embellished with abundant blue-and-white faux flowers. Controlling the overall exposure was crucial because white backgrounds blow out so easily. To capture that translucent, cool-toned Dreamy style, the photographer spent a long time dialing in light positions and color temperature, also using reflector boards for fill light. During the shoot, to match that tilted perspective, my feet had to press onto a concealed support while my entire body was suspended in a semi-reclined pose—all while maintaining a relaxed, natural expression, which genuinely tested my physical stamina. Later on, staff crawled on the floor for a long time to adjust the curvature of the gown's hem, worried that any slip would tear the fishnets in this Stockings cosplay. Searching for the perfect angle, we fired the shutter probably hundreds of times; choosing this single shot depended not only on composition, but also on the graceful extension of leg lines and the matching facial expression. Through this shoot, I gained deeper insights into the workflow of high-key photography—such as lighting techniques against white backgrounds and how models coordinate with lenses to visually elongate body proportions. Once the photos came out, all those grueling adjustments felt worthwhile, delivering a visual effect combining aloofness with an elegant Regal vibe. Many shoot details remained, like smoothing wrinkles in the stockings and ensuring the wing props were securely mounted. Prior to shooting, makeup fitting and prop rehearsals took ages due to the numerous accessories and extra head weight, demanding constant vigilance over the wig during posing. Regarding lighting, since the overall color scheme was cool-toned white, fill light on skin required slightly cool-toned foundation to avoid clashing with the white backdrop. Furthermore, with hot studio lights running, the AC was blasting cold air, making wearing this set quite chilly, though the fantastic vibe kept me going on pure willpower. The core philosophy in post-retouching was preserving color purity, removing unnecessary color casts while preserving lighting nuances on the costume to accentuate the character's icy coldness. Every return photoshoot is like a miniature project planning session requiring harmony among costume, props, hair/makeup, and setting.
