This time, I tried out the look for Halford from Azur Lane. The overall matching style leans toward a lightweight, 2D Moe style. The pink plush pom-poms and white ruffled structure of the headdress are quite intricate, requiring significant effort to shape properly during crafting. To match the character's delicate aesthetic, I specially chose a sleek, cool-white wig with blunt bangs and low twin-tails, which gently frames the face and softens the overall contour on camera.
Looking at the garment details, the black velvet bow tie at the neck and the white ruffled collar create a clean black-and-white contrast. The top features a fitted pink design paired with detachable semi-sheer white sleevelets. Due to their airy, featherlight fabric, these sleeves required continuous angle adjustments during the shoot to look gracefully breezy. For the bottom, I wore a white thigh-highs outfit (white tights), which, paired with seated postures and leg extensions, visually elongated the body line; under natural light, the white stockings retained an ideal matte texture without glare or overexposure.
The shoot took place indoors by floor-to-ceiling windows, where natural light streamed through the glass to create an airy, luminous setting that was exceptionally welcoming for cosplay photography. Beyond the subject, the grey plush bunny held in my arms served as an essential visual anchor. A black bow tied around the bunny's neck nicely echoed my outfit. The white plush bunny slippers near my feet were also specially prepared to further amplify the soft and cuddly vibe.
Coordinating props with costumes is vital in cosplay expressiveness; simply posing mechanically in costume often yields stiff shots. Having a plush toy as an interactive medium naturally enriches the narrative feel of the scene. Even without actual iced cherry juice, the combination of cool white, soft pink, subtle black accents, and grey plush props creates a low-saturation palette that is visually soothing, radiating a refreshing style unique to the character.
During prep, I communicated with the photographer about capturing a "moe" and innocent expression. When posing before the lens, coordinating fingers and facial expressions was key—gently cupping the chin or touching the lips with fingertips added playful liveliness to the still image, while holding the grey bunny and looking toward the camera conveyed gentleness. The gradient of light and shadow on the white tights directly influenced the mood; thankfully, the photographer masterfully controlled white balance and exposure, avoiding harsh blown-out highlights.
Costumes for anime characters often feature intricate structural designs; this one primarily tested overall harmony. Even though these were convention photos, being able to faithfully recreate the character's blend of obedient sweetness and innocent 2D Moe style charm was genuinely gratifying. The shoot went smoothly, thanks to the photographer's guidance on timing and posing—especially tips on shifting body weight while seated to elongate the legs, which greatly improved the hit rate for quality shots.
Reviewing these past shots today, I feel there was still slight room for improvement in makeup details, such as sharpening the eye makeup to better match the character's gaze. Nonetheless, as a practical endeavor, the current results fully achieved the intended vision.
