[Tenshi Hinanawi cosplay] Crimson Eyes Brandishing Lightsaber Props at China International Comics Festival (CICF)

For this convention, I cosplayed Tenshi Hinanawi from Touhou Project at the China International Comics Festival (CICF). The biggest highlight of the entire outfit was definitely the accompanying lightsaber props. The costume features rich, layered details: the top consists of a blue, black, and white corset adorned with cascading ruffles, while the lower body features a black-and-white lace skirt paired with tall boots. Holding the lightsaber required testing many different angles to bring out the illuminated visual effects at their best. The convention hall was packed and the ambient lighting was quite chaotic, so capturing these convention photos relied heavily on the distinct textures of the fabric and the glowing blade highlights to separate the subject from the busy backdrop. The outfit offered decent breathability and wasn't as uncomfortably warm as I had anticipated, though navigating the crowd required extra care so the wide sleeves and flowing skirt hem wouldn't catch on passersby. The hilt of the lightsaber is made of metallic-finished plastic, which still made my arms ache after holding it for extended periods. Many convention attendees asked for photos together, and I also met photographers well-versed in Touhou Project lore. We shared insights regarding fabric choices and timing the lightsaber's illumination amidst convention floor lighting. Since ambient light was somewhat dim, the white tulle sections were slightly brightened in post-processing; combined with the crimson contact lenses and red lips, the final results turned out just as envisioned. Lacing up the tall boots took quite a bit of effort, but wearing them flattered the leg lines and made them look remarkably straight. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience at CICF, and these convention photos capture candid snapshots throughout that vibrant day.
