[Unicorn Cosplay] Azur Lane Unicorn's Refreshing Summer Style

Bringing this Unicorn look to life required considerable effort from early prep to final delivery. Because we wanted to evoke a summer beach vibe indoors, the studio was intentionally dressed with blue-and-white backdrops, luminous circular LED rings, beach lounge chairs, and swim rings. Once the costume arrived, I realized the details were far more intricate than anticipated. The white skirt features multi-tiered cuts overlaid with sheer purple tulle, accented by delicate bows and floral ornaments. The bodice adopts a halter cutout design paired with a long navy-blue ribbon streamer, flanked by twin white wing accents that lend the entire look an airy yet magical fantasy aesthetic. The wig is a light purple long curly style; to build volume, I layered the waves with a curling iron, meticulously securing the black headband and metallic four-point star hairpins at the crown to keep them from sliding during the shoot. For the makeup, I specifically selected soft pink-purple eyeshadow and natural contact lenses, striving for a gentler, more tender gaze. During the shoot, to match the beach theme, I wore white garter Stockings cosplay and lace-up high heels, testing various sitting poses on the lounge chair. Waiting for the perfect alignment of lighting and posture often meant holding a single pose for extended periods, secretly engaging core muscles to support my posture. For example, in the shot shading my eyes from the sun, the arm contours and garment draping had to be carefully balanced—slacking off even slightly would make the frame look lifeless. For the standing shots, controlling the tension of the streamers was essential so the skirt would flare naturally. Throughout the session, continuous communication with the photographer regarding framing and angles was crucial; a slight shift in eye line meant taking the shot again. The studio lights were intense and cast noticeable heat, but watching the monitor steadily match our ideal vision made every ounce of effort worthwhile. The overall color grading leans toward a crisp, cool-toned palette, beautifully complementing the textures of the white and purple attire. From a professional standpoint, wardrobe prep, fluid posing, and facial control must all converge in perfect harmony at the click of the shutter. I thoroughly enjoyed bringing the character to life within this blue sanctuary and hope this set shares a breath of refreshing summer air with everyone.
