Changing into this Qipao variant of Cheshire from Azur Lane, the shutter was pressed right at the convention venue. This time, a cool and elegant style was chosen. The light blue silk-textured fabric combined with the cutout design on the chest reflects a gorgeous sheen under the venue's spotlights. The matching large fur collar cape is very thick in reality; the plush texture plus the golden embroidered tassels on both sides add a lot of nobility and layering to the overall light color palette. The blue-grey short wig has a layered cut, and the light blue highlights on both sides echo the main color scheme of the clothing perfectly. Combined with blue contact lenses, it visualizes the agility in the character's setting.
The production of the hat took a lot of thought. The large-area heavy lace and blue satin fabric are layered, with several layers of support inside and outside to prevent it from collapsing when worn. Previously, the hardest part of shooting convention photos indoors was the large brim blocking the light, but the studio setup mimicking the venue's lighting solved the illumination issue nicely, showcasing the eye makeup details and facial dimension very clearly. Upon putting it on, I found this asymmetric halter neck design is quite demanding on the shoulder and neck lines, but fortunately, the fit of the clothing size is good, beautifully outlining the silhouette of the upper body. The lower body is paired with white lace garter stockings and high heels in the same color scheme; the rhinestones embedded on the shoe surfaces shimmer brilliantly under the convention center's illumination lamps, complementing the white fur shawl perfectly.
Because the shooting location was inside a large anime convention venue, the light spots behind me are actually the dense illumination lights on the ceiling, which create a wonderful cyberpunk vibe and a lively atmosphere after being blurred by the lens aperture. The foot traffic at the venue was quite heavy during the shoot, requiring me to quickly find my state despite all the stares. I just sat on that black folding ladder; actually, this stool itself is not comfortable, with only a crossbar on top, and I also needed to maintain my body balance. To showcase the leg proportions, I placed one leg higher up and let the other leg fall naturally. Posing at that height requires special attention to the extension of the toes and the lines when the thighs and calves fold, making the frame look natural and relaxed yet full of tension.
Because of wearing high heels, switching movements on the folding ladder was quite strenuous. In the second photo, I took off one shoe and put it on the ground, stepping on the crossbar barefoot, which instead better restored that slight playful relaxation of the character. I love this kind of real recording at the convention venue—the stitching of the clothes, the thickness of the fur collar, the combination of fluffy white tights and ice blue; these details look exceptionally vivid under the venue's ambient light. Standing or sitting upright for several hours in high heels is not easy, but being able to display Cheshire's charming temperament the moment the shutter is pressed makes me very happy. The entire set of images didn't deliberately add heavy post-processing filters, but instead preserved the original noisy but passion-filled background atmosphere of the convention, making it more authentic. Finally, picking out these convention photos—whether it's the state of the eyes locking onto the lens or the details of hands holding the fur collar and hat brim—can be considered the best expression of this Qipao look, serving as a great piece of Anime-style photography.
